Small jobs welcome

"Originally I was hoping for just a simple door repair for my sliding door. Alex came over to assess and showed me that unfortunately it was beyond repair and proceeded to show me why after spending over an hour trying to fix it. He did not charge me for that assessment and his time attempting to repair as many other companies would have. He got me a quote to replace, far lower than quotes from other companies, Home Depot, couple other companies etc. He did an amazing job and couldn’t be happier. Cleaned everything up meticulously and couldn’t give a higher recommendation for his services. "

"Kyle of Ace Handyman Services was awesome! He was thorough, easy to communicate with, discussed the best options to utilize our time and how best to complete the project of rehanging our front door and realigning our new locks, strike plate & repairing the frame. The work is exactly what I wanted. Highly Recommend Kyle & Ace."

"Jay was able to fix a cabinet door hinge that we thought was unfixable. We'd tried to fix it ourselves but couldn't find a matching hinge, even looking for one at cabinetparts.com. It took him a few hours and a trip to the hinge wholesaler to get a replacement for the hinges which are no longer made, but the door is perfect now. I'm pretty sure there are very few people with this type of expertise in Portland, so if you've got a tricky issue, his many years of experience will definitely serve to your advantage. Highly recommend!"

"My husband knocked over our mailbox during our recent snow storm. P.O. told us they would need to put our mail on hold and we wouldn't be able to reactivate delivery until we picked it up from the post office. Seeings how our street has been closed for 11 days (and will most likely reopen after several more days) the prospect of not getting mail looked pretty grim. We chose Oswego Home Repair over one other service because of the proximity to our home and their rate. Randy was able to make it up our hill and fixed the mailbox quickly. The final cost ended up being more than we expected, but considering the weather, the fact that it was Christmas week, and Randy's fast work, we have no complaints. Who wants to be without mail at Christmas?"

"These were primarily repairs that were identified by the home inspector prior to our purchase of this house a year ago, but which we were not prepared to have done until last month. Ron came when he said he would, and did all the work promptly and carefully. He identified the type and size of boot flanges needed for the roof and went to Home Depot to purchase them. He said he was not qualified to handle one repair, which involved replacing the interior electrical conduit that had been used improperly outside to connect our air-conditioning compressor to the breaker box, and recommended an electrician to do the work. <br />"

"Overall the project went fine, and Dale performs good work. Still, there were a few unresolved issues that surfaced that left me feeling a little sour, that I was far from being a valued customer, and would cause me to pause before hiring them again. It was agreed that the work would likely be performed in a day but if not it would finished the following day. A couple days before the scheduled day I received a call that the subcontracted new door would not be ready until day it was to be installed, so, not a problem, I thought, that's what the scheduled second day was for. But apparently they had scheduled another project that day, so it would have to wait until the next week. At the same time I asked for a bid on a bigger project involving French doors that I wanted to move forward with after the current project. Okay, so the door was installed the next week (There was a minor problem with the keying of the lock, but he said he'd resolve that and provide me with the two keys that came with the deadbolt when he returned), and I explained what I wanted for the French doors so that he could provide a bid when he returned. But then he was not able to come back the next day to finish it because, apparently, he had another project to do, so he would be back in several days. Fine, not much I can do about it at this stage. So he returned four days later to finish the project but did not have the two keys for the deadbolt that were supposed to be included (Not a huge problem, as I can go to Home Depot and have a couple made, but, still...) and did not have the bid for the French doors because he had not measured it when he was working at the house several days before. So he then measured the door and said the bid would be emailed to me (I received it four days later) My plan had been to hire him immediately (like I had done when he came to provide a bid on the first project) had he brought the bid after our earlier discussion, but at this point I was beginning to feel a bit like a "low priority" customer and that contracting with them for a bigger project involving more scheduling, subcontractors, vendors might not be wise. "

"Many of the windows in our house were painted shut when we bought <br>the house years ago. We lived with it. But high temperatures over the <br>past couple of years made these rooms increasingly uncomfortable. <br>So, we were delighted to learn of Fresh Air Sash Cord Repair, Inc. in Portland <br>that restores stuck windows to their original working condition. This entails a lot <br>of careful detailed work to free-up the windows by removing the lead paint, <br>re-balancing the original weights and installing new cords. Patty Spencer,  <br>the owner, and her assistant worked like surgeons. They set up an air-tight <br>enclosure in each room to contain the lead paint. Vacuums were on <br>almost all the time for further safety. Different electric tools were used <br>for different tasks to minimize damage to the windows. The outcome <br>is fantastic! All seven windows she repaired now work perfectly.  <br>There is nothing like a window that opens for cross ventilation <br>on a hot day. The cool early morning breeze through an open window <br>makes it easier to sleep. <br> <br> <br>"
