I work for JCJ Contracting as a laborer and do general construction jobs spanning from basic concrete work, tile installations in bathrooms/kitchens, cabinet installations, setting doors, windows, finish trim installation, and hardwood flooring. This includes basic plumbing and electrical to prepare rental properties as well. \n\nI'm slowly accruing the tools I need to do jobs like these and want to network as much as I can. I hope I can be of service and ease the stress that comes with any construction project.\n\nThank you for reading!

"Response to our inquiry was quick. Price was fair and was under the amount of the estimate given to us. The work was excellent. Our table looks brand new and the refinished top matches our chairs. We would highly recommend JM Wood Restoration!!"

"<p>It couldn't have gone better.  Andy's professionalism was greatly appreciated and showed he liked to provide a good service.  Andy from the beginning was easy to get hold of and talk to.  He immediately came out to discuss the job and set up arrangements for his people to measure for the granite, detail the shower, electrical and plumbing work.  He has excellent employees working for him even though they are from independent companies they were very professional, highly skilled and offered alternatives to help us decide on ways to do the project.  The coordination for the work went without a hitch except for minor plumbing trim that I ordered and was a week late.  The granite counter tops turned out beautifully and fit perfectly and now I have a happy wife.</p> <p>Thanks Andy for a great job</p> <br />"

"Love our new kitchen and master bath. Andy designed the layout and we couldn't be happier. Upgrades include a slide out spice drawer, a cabinet for trays and cutting boards, a lighted glass front cabinet for grandmas china and crystal, a lazy Susan built to handle a full load of canned goods, a lazy Charlie that holds our pots and pans, a large drawer you can configure many ways, a beautiful sink that never needs to be bleached (it's not white), and the beautiful quartz counter top. Andy is a genius. He also went above and beyond to get our fireplace mantel, shelving and beam cover all stained to match. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ANDY THANK YOU."

"Russ and Shelly were very responsive to what we needed done. Shelly gave me helpful planning advice (as opposed to the big store guys who wanted me to settle for what they wanted to do), and Russ was the kind of craftsman you always hope to find when what you want done requires thoughtfulness and skill and attention to details and, in our case, the ability to address troublesome issues we hadn't even considered. In addition to doing more than the two big stores were willing to do, he charged less. We can't imagine being happier with the results and recommend the Pohls without reservation."

"The remodel went wonderfully.  Jim and Jonathan were on time, easy to have in the house.  Their daily clean up and work ethic was great.  I have used Halm and Perkins on two other projects and continue to be very pleased with the results."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Jackson, MI

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
