"I contacted TW King on Monday, December 15th, hoping to have this and the cleaning done to the carpet before the end of the year. They scheduled me for the following day, upon completion of another job in our area. They called to let me know they were running a little behind their original time estimate, but Tracy and Tom (owners) arrived promptly at the adjusted time they gave me. I showed them some large areas of carpet in the finished basement that were water damaged; one was as old as 10 years, where upon drying, the carpet no longer stretched to the tackstrip under the molding. Another was the result of a reoccurrance of an old pipe leak from the ceiling in the middle of a large room, as well as a hallway. We also had some areas around the basement stairs where the carpet was starting to come up. They recommended stretching all of the water affected areas before cleaning so the carpet would be tight when cleaned and not leave wrinkles upon drying. They drilled in all of the tackstrips and restretched the carpet in 4 areas (a 20X20 family room, a 12X15 bedroom, a 13X6 hall way and the area in front of the stairs). They moved all of the furniture in both rooms (including a sofa bed, treadmill and a piano) and then vacuumed and moved everything back carefully to its original position. I also asked them to take a piece of the remnant of a karistan runner for our main staircase on the first floor and replace the lower 4 steps, which were beginning to show a lot of wear. It was seamless-even though the new piece is slightly darker, it is hardly noticeable because of how well it was installed to fit the design!I couldn't be more pleased with the result and the price. They took carpet that still had a lot of wear and made it seem new again."

"This company has a "stain specialist" by the name of Ron Butler. He's terrific! Very good a what he does. Great people skills and knows what he's doing. We've changed carpet cleaning companies to Smith-Mathis because of what this Tech brings to the table ... expertise!"

"Talked to Alicia at PHD and they said they would have a tech sent out soon. The previous night we had torrential rains and widespread flooding thoughout the area.   Keith  from PHD called and said he was on his way within an hour of the call I originally placed.  Keith arrived and surveyed the problem as well as tested thoroughly for water in the carpet and padding.  He left to go get additional equipment to resolve the problem correctly as it encompassed a large area.  Upon return, Keith worked his magic for 4 hard working hours.  He was extemely pleasant and explained the process well.  Upon completion, he set up multiple commercial fans to dry the carpeting and pad.  In addition, he set up a huge dehumidifier to extract any moisture.  There were other things Keith did to complete the process the correct way.  I was extremely impressed with the PHD and their professionalism and excellent staff. <br /> I will use them again in the future. <br />"

"From the get go, McCool's was professional, helpful and did not try to oversell in any way.  In a recent condo purchase, I needed to have the carpet replaced, and wanted to do so prior to moving in the furniture. McCool's worked with me to educate me about my carpet purchase (while respecting my concerns for budget and not trying to sell me more carpet than I actually needed), schedule a convenient time to have it installed, and having it done promptly and on time. Initially, their prices looked higher than those found at other big box carpet retailers, but when it was explained that the price shown included installation, carpet padding, and haul away of the old carpet, they were on par with other resellers and the work done was fantastic. I would recommend completely. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Clayton, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
