"He was very prompt, he did what he said he would do and when he will do it! He cleaned up all the debris and his pricing was better than the other contractors I checked with! I referred him to two of my neighbors!"

"I purchased the $99.00 kitchen layout. Bob was very prompt, accomodating and professional. However, after going back and forth, with price and timeline - he was unable to confirm the timeline for the work to be done by. So, I did not use him at this time."

"I could not say enough about how wonderful they all were. I would recommend them to anybody. They really cared. I had picked out a countertop and I was talking to one of the owners, that’s Pam. I was talking to Pam about what I was doing with the kitchen. It's a Cambria countertop, which is not cheap. She called me back a couple of days later and she said, “I went to a party last night and they had the counter top that you asked for. I don’t think it’s what you want!” I said, what do you mean?” She said, “There’s a lot of blue in it!” I wanted the kitchen red. If she had not called me and just ordered it, what would I have done? I would have had to swallow the cost. When I picked out the cabinets, I had to pick out the style of the cabinet, the wood I wanted on the cabinets, the finish I wanted on the cabinet and the color. I did all of that and again Pam says to me, “that sounds really nice, here’s a door in exactly what you want. Take this home, put it in your kitchen, look at it all day long.” Well, inside of 12 hours I hated it. In my kitchen, it looked totally different. It has to do with the lighting, the time of day, it’s just, it isn’t what I wanted. Because, she was she let me take that home I was able to change my mind. A lot of people don’t do that. They were fantastic, I can’t say enough about them. They timed everything so like when you are having a new garbage disposal put in, you need an electrician & a plumber. As the plumber was walking out, the electrician was walking in. There was no time delay at all, there was no time wasted anywhere. I would recommend them."

"Tom refaced our kitchen cabinets, replacing the doors and installing slide-out shelves and self-closing drawers below the counters, plus build a new cabinet with drawers. It was a pretty big job and took a few weeks. Worth every nickel. A much better set up now; everything looks and works great. He cleaned up at the end of each day so we could still use the kitchen. We would hire him again in a heart beat."

"I hired Phil at PTO Home Service and Repair to look into an interesting problem I was having with my basement plumbing. We had our kitchen sink, washer, and two basement sinks draining into a 1 1/2" PVC pie that was going into a cast iron pipe into the ground and when the washer would drain it overflowed the sink. Phil was very responsive, he called me back and was able to come on a Saturday and look at the issue. I knew for this specific problem I was going to need some custom type of work done and Phil was the right person for the job. After the assessment, Phil recommended a fix and scheduled time to come and implement it. He arrived on time and was very professional. After the fix was installed and we tested the washer, unfortunately the problem still existed. I was very impressed at Phil's ability to troubleshoot the issue after the initial work and provide a further suggestion to get the problem fixed "permanently". I could tell that Phil really cared about solving the problem so that I wouldn't have to worry about it in the future. He scheduled a new time to come and implement the fix and on that date also showed up on time, sent me a text to let me know he was on his way and worked all day to get it done. The "permanent" fix that Phil came up with was very creative and I was impressed with the work that was done. The only thing I have to do now is replace the sheetrock in my basement, which shouldn't be too bad. See the attached pictures. I was extremely happy with Phil and PTO Home Service & Repair and would definitely hire him again!"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Clifton Park, NY

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
