Annandale NJ It is not often that I take the time to write a review for services rendered except for when the experience is positive and worthy of accolades. The exceptional work recently completed, on 4/17/2019 by J and A Home Remodeling, installing new windows for our home rises to that occasion. Through the years my wife and I have owned and renovated several homes dealing with a variety of contractors whose customer service satisfaction was as varied as the work needed. Now retired and on fixed incomes, the importance of being assured of receiving value for our dollars had become paramount and with Owner/Operator Joe Markey that goal was achieved. Our first introduction to Joes work came from a business associate who recommended him highly for some interior painting that was needed. Joe showed flexibility with scheduling out of concern for our needs and performed the service both timely and with close attention to detail. An offhand comment regarding a desire to have our windows replaced for the past few years led to Joe apprising us as to the depth of services he renders, and within 48 hours we had been shown a sample of the windows, provided pricing info, detailed spec information as to quality, warranty coverage, the installation process, scheduling needs/accommodations, and commitment to personally perform the work. Within the time frame of barely one and a half days, I witnessed Joe, with assistance from an equally competent technician Ed, personally change 16 windows from start to finish. The proficiency with which they worked as a team was amazing to observe. The removal, replacement, insulating, caulking, and exterior aluminum wrapping/embellishments were performed without any interior or exterior mess that we had to concern ourselves with. The final look significantly enhanced the street appeal of our house and was everything we were expecting. The noise reduction, ease of cleaning, and energy saving aspects will be paying dividends for years to come. "Ricardo and his crew did an overall good job with my floor project. What I needed done was sanding and staining about 1200 sf of a wood floor (about 500 sf was an old floor, 700 sf was a brand new unstained floor, and a 14 step staircase). A challenge on the old floor was areas where repair were needed; some places there were holes that needed to be repaired, plus the staircase had already been shellacked by my general contractor, and I needed ricardo to strip the shellac (i think it was done by hand) and restain it. They did a fine job sanding, staining, and polyurethaning with bona mega. In hindsight, I wish I had asked for bona HD traffic but I didn't know to ask. The good things that Ricardo did: -helped me pick out a stain that I to this day really love. -recommended bona water based, and bona floor care products. -kept in good communication before the job -showed up on time -did a good job with the floor repairs -"saved" my staircase; which my GC screwed up by shellacking without asking me about staining. Ricardo's crew sanded the shellac off by hand, and did a very nice job staining it to what I wanted. -got the job done quickly, 2 and 1/2 days. -gave me some good floor care advice what did not go well, and I wasn't happy with: -an innocent mistake, but his guys left two large bags of floor sawdust from sanding on my balcony. they forgot to clean it up after they were done, and I had to haul it myself. -Ricardo never gave me my final invoice and warranty info like he promised numerous times. After the 4th attempt I just gave up trying. -never followed up with me after I expressed concerns that maybe the floor wasn't as shiny (I asked for semi-gloss) as I thought semi gloss was supposed to be. many people that have come by say the floor's really satin, not semi gloss. to this day I can't really tell. the lack of follow up after the job was done, to this day, still annoys me. I think overall the floor was done well though, but after a year and a half of experiencing it; I've convinced myself that it is probably OK. -a little sloppy on some parts of the staining job. I saw various areas where stain got onto my wall or fairly high up on the baseboards. -would have been nice if Ricardo advised me to wipe down the walls afterward; i realized many months later that the walls had a thin layer of sanding dust. Didn't realize this for a while. Overall a good job, and I think I would hire him again, but with some hesitation."

"Can’t pay enough compliments to John and his guys. They did a great job overall and managed the project very smoothly through the entire permitting process. From the very beginning it was apparent John was detail oriented and most importantly, concerned about delivering a quality product to his customers. John is very hands on, and his approach of shopping with the homeowner to make sure everything will “work” during installation I think is a key component of job success and customer satisfaction. The guys worked straight thru with work only interrupted by permits/inspections. He involved and asked us about anything that came up along the way that we had not previously talked about.
