"Anthony Nastasi of NB Woodworks, LLc, has our highest recommendation. He has worked with us over the past year on a variety of projects aimed at refurbishing and improving our home. This has included exterior trim replacement, replacing a box window with a French door and side light unit, and replacing a large unusually sized window. He also built a beautiful mahogony deck. Indoors, he installed a french door which included fine trim work. In addition, he hired excellent subcontractors to powerwash and paint our home and build a patio, porch and walks. We highly recommend Anthony's carpentry skill, as well as his problem solving, planning and coordination skills. He is also a dependable, honest person of fine character."

"J and A Home Remodeling Date: 4/17/2019 by Dominic F. Annandale NJ It is not often that I take the time to write a review for services rendered except for when the experience is positive and worthy of accolades. The exceptional work recently completed, on 4/17/2019 by J and A Home Remodeling, installing new windows for our home rises to that occasion. Through the years my wife and I have owned and renovated several homes dealing with a variety of contractors whose customer service satisfaction was as varied as the work needed. Now retired and on fixed incomes, the importance of being assured of receiving value for our dollars had become paramount and with Owner/Operator Joe Markey that goal was achieved. Our first introduction to Joes work came from a business associate who recommended him highly for some interior painting that was needed. Joe showed flexibility with scheduling out of concern for our needs and performed the service both timely and with close attention to detail. An offhand comment regarding a desire to have our windows replaced for the past few years led to Joe apprising us as to the depth of services he renders, and within 48 hours we had been shown a sample of the windows, provided pricing info, detailed spec information as to quality, warranty coverage, the installation process, scheduling needs/accommodations, and commitment to personally perform the work. Within the time frame of barely one and a half days, I witnessed Joe, with assistance from an equally competent technician Ed, personally change 16 windows from start to finish. The proficiency with which they worked as a team was amazing to observe. The removal, replacement, insulating, caulking, and exterior aluminum wrapping/embellishments were performed without any interior or exterior mess that we had to concern ourselves with. The final look significantly enhanced the street appeal of our house and was everything we were expecting. The noise reduction, ease of cleaning, and energy saving aspects will be paying dividends for years to come. Joe Markeys J and A Home Remodeling has proven itself to be a reliable, professionally operated, and competitively priced company driven by a desire to leave its customers satisfied, and that mission was accomplished. We would have no hesitation to hire J and A for our rear deck and patio that the wife is now throwing hints about. The personalized touch that Joe Markey offers is a refreshing change from the larger franchised firms out there."

"We have a large house that had very wonky hollow core doors. We had Caporelli replace over 20 doors with stained solid pine doors. Darren and his crew did a fantastic job. All the doors look fantastic and function as they should. I would hire them again."

"Ricardo called the next day and he met with me as agreed. His bid was the most fair for a Great room, dining room, 3 bedrooms, 11 stairs, foyer and entertainment room. He also agreed to do the job as requested over a two week period. He helped us move heavy furniture which not many would do. He and his crew were very nice. The floors came out Great! Thanks"

"Excellent.  The most professional of those we interviewed.  Really knew what they were doing, and told us why the method they suggested would be the best for us (as well as the least expensive).  Did everything they said they would, and more as the found places uncovered during demolition, at no additional charge."

"Within days of purchasing the deal, I received the instructions and paper to draw my table templates. The table has 2 drop leaves plus 2 additional leaves that can be inserted in the table. The templates were pretty easy to draw. The finished pads were delivered in a very short time. They fit the table and each of the 4 leaves perfectly and magnetically lock together to keep them aligned when on the table. A year and a half later, I still love these pads."

"Jim and his team were knowledgable, professional and very thorough in their work.  We are very pleased with the results.  Jim is creative and finds a way to get things done when faced with challenges.  We had a 2nd story window which was difficult to reach due to landscape and Jim handled it smoothly and with no problem.  His team was conscientious and took their time to make sure each opening was done properly to insure a weatherproof installation.  We highly recommend Trust Builders LLC and are making arrangements to use them again on a basement remodel."

"We were not pleased with the work of this company.  While the price is right, there were so many things that went wrong on the job that I'm not sure if I can remember all of them.
First of all, when I hire a painter, my assumption is that they will work on my job only until the project is complete.  This was not the case.  The painters left the job for days on end, being called to other locations.  The work was sloppy in numerous places - we had to keep calling them back to correct things.  I also had bedroom furniture damaged when the workers moved my end tables to another room - they didn't take the care necessary to protect them.  Walls under light covers/cable covers were not painted - they were left the original color of the rooms.  My bedroom wall has cracked in one place already - as they didn't do the repair needed in that area evidently to prevent that from happening.  Paint has chipped in other areas - something which should not happen so soon after completion.
At exterior painting they also didn't take care to protect elements of the home properly.  I had paint spatter covering newly installed railings at my front walkway, stains applied incorrectly on wood lattice which they installed (numerous empty areas - should have used a spray gun for that or painted it before installation), totally ruined my exterior balcony door with using too thick a layer of paint on it.  There were paint brush hairs all over the door as well, paint on screens (why they weren't removed or covered is beyond me), spattered paint on a custom mailbox, and the same on our house number plaque.
There is more, but I'll just leave it at it was an extremely sloppy job which took literally WEEKS to complete and I was told it would take less than 1 week.
While there were some circumstances that made the job take longer (some weather related and some of his workers having personal problems), the amount of errors exceeded what would be considered excusable.
The only good thing I can say is that from far away, the house looks ok and, the owner Phil (others mention a different name, not sure why) tried to be as pleasant as possible throughout this.

FAQs for interior trim and decorative moldings installation projects in Clinton, NJ

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
