"I had a panel upgrade, some new wiring, a few new outlets put in as well as new recessed led lights installed in 2 rooms. I'm very happy with all the work that was done. They worked well as a team and got it all accomplished in less than 3 days. They were professional, courteous, arrived on time and cleaned up after. I also have to say that the electrical panel looks great. I know that sounds silly but the wires were going every which way. Now, it is organized and is no longer the eyesore that it was. As someone who has had work done in my house over the years. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the quality of work is there and I will definitely use them again."

"After getting a few estimates, I chose to go with Hughes Electrical with my above ground pool electric panel. William did fantastic work, he was very precise and thorough. He installed the panel, pool pump wiring and the pool frame bonding. I also received an extra convenience outlet by the control panel for anything else I needed plugged in! The inspection passed smoothly will no issues. I highly recommend this company, amazing job!"

"Bill H from Gambino Electric showed up promptly on time for the job. There were some edge ceiling tiles that needed to be removed to reach the power line and Bill did very clean work with the removal and disposal. Bill showed cross sections of the older range power line and the new line installed, describing the differences in insulation and safety features of the newer line. Bill went above and beyond by detecting the wrong cord on the new range, and replaced this with the proper range gauge power cord. Bill also helped us to correctly position and level the new range appliance. I would recommend Bill and Gambino Electric for any similar household wiring job where safety and quality of work are a priority."

"Both jobs went very well. The overhead light fixture had shorted, possibly related to a leak from the bathroom above. John fixed the wiring to the fixture, as well as getting the light working again. He then checked an 3rd floor bathroom outlet that worked intermittently. I got the impression that his experience as an electrician helped him quickly figure out that the problem was related to how the outlet had been connected to the gfci outlet in the 2nd floor bathroom and changes to that outlet when the 2nd floor bathroom was renovated a couple months before. His work was fast and thorough."

"Carlos is a PRO. Came out installed a new 200 amp electrical panel, conduit protected 200 amp line in, full bonding and grounding system, as well as ran a line and installed a generator interlock kit. He was thorough in showing me how to operate everything, the craftsmanship of his work was next level, everything up and running in a timely manner, and the cost was great. 10/10 would recommend for any and all electrical needs."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Collegeville, PA

A whole-house surge protector blocks voltage spikes from lightning, grid issues, or even large appliances before they can fry your wiring or electronics. By diverting excess current at the main panel, it shields everything from your HVAC to your phone chargers and can extend the life of pricey appliances. Homeowners in storm-prone regions or with older panels see the biggest payoff, but any home that relies on sensitive electronics benefits.

Most whole-house surge protectors work for two to three years. Low-level spikes—too small to notice—hit your panel every day and slowly wear down the internal components. Once the unit’s capacity is depleted, it can’t prevent a larger surge, so plan to replace it on schedule (or sooner if a major lightning strike occurs) to keep your electronics and HVAC equipment safe.

A surge protector begins guarding your circuits the moment an electrician snaps it into place. Whether the spike originates from a nearby lightning strike or your fridge kicking on, the protector shunts the extra current to ground before it can reach outlets or hard-wired systems, such as your AC. That instant response is why a small upfront cost can save thousands in appliance repairs.

The unit mounts on or next to your main electrical panel. Type 1 models sit on the supply side, catching outside spikes before they hit the breaker. Type 2 devices snap inside the panel and tame surges that start within the house. Either way, placement at the panel lets the protector guard every circuit at once.

Plan to swap the device every three to five years—or sooner if you upgrade your panel, add high-demand appliances, or notice flickering lights and tripped breakers. Relying on a maze of power strips is another red flag that your current setup isn’t keeping up. Replacing the surge protector at these milestones keeps your electrical system on safe footing.
