"We have been working with Juan since last fall . He is one of the BEST ! Besides his great work ethic he is a very trustworthy, respectful man . He has replaced the banisters at our front porch , a mailbox , repaired our deck . Fixed our back door so that it looks like new NEW AGAIN ! His painting expertise is showing every where in our home 🤩 He is on time and leaves the job side clean . I always say it’s like MAGIC, because when Juan leaves everything he has worked on is Great ! If you like your job done right call Juan."

Customers say: Quick response

"Exceptional work and attention to detail. We recently purchased a 1970s house and the original wallpaper was still on the walls. Colonial Coatings took on a job that not all companies would and did a fantastic job removing the wallpaper (not easy to say the least) and restored the walls to better than new. Charles Hicks the owner personally stands by his work and ensured we were 100% satisfied with the final product. We would highly recommend this company for all of your painting needs."

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Colonial Beach, VA

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
