We just moved into a home that had a wreck of a backyard, just weeds, dirt, and gopher holes. Including Landscape Locators, we had three landscapers bid the project. First, I spoke with Kevin over the phone. He explained the two sides of their business, asked what we were looking for, and then recommended which side made the most sense based on what our needs and budget were. The first side of their business is to list out the project and solicit bids from several of the over 40 landscape and hardscape contractors they have a relationship with and have fully vetted. This way you don't have to solicit all the contractors yourself. The second side of their business, and the one in which was recommended to us and we therefore used, was to have the landscape and hardscape done by them. Once Kevin told us this is likely the avenue we would take, he had his business partner, Andrew, come out to our house to assess the backyard. Andrew was at our house within a few days and again took the time to explain the business models of the company. He was sure to actually provide recommendations on the backyard style and plants to use (something we did not get from other companies). I appreciated that because I don't believe to know everything about your business, just as you don't know everything about what I do. Recommendations are always welcomed and appreciated. Since Andrew agreed that this was a project for their company to do, he set up an appointment for Jesse to come to the house. Jesse was there within a few days, took measurements, and provided additional recommendations. At no point during Andrew's nor Jesse's meetings did we feel oversold to or pushed by them. They were helpful, answered our questions, and got back to us later if we had additional questions. Within a few more days, we had a bid on the project based on Jesse's measurements and our rough plan. We then scheduled the project out for their next available time, which was three weeks later. In the week before, I spoke with Jesse several times about the products we were going to purchase, where we could go look at pavers, and other questions I had. Jesse and his team worked from early morning until about 5pm for six days straight. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of every day. They were courteous, hard working, and very professional. Once done, Jesse walked us through everything that was planted, the mechanics of the sprinkler system, and the timeline for actually getting to use our new grass. We could not be more thrilled with the process from beginning to end. We felt that Andrew and Jesse were always there to answer our questions and follow through on their promises. Definitely get a quote from them if you need a project done."

"I called Garcia's Gardening Service and spoke with Martin Garcia. I explained that I would like to have some landscaping done to my backyard as I have 3 dogs (2 Labrador Retriever puppies and one 4 year old Lab) and that I needed a pet friendly backyard that will also look nice. He came by the next day and we went over my idea's for my backyard. My priority was needing the side of my house turned into a dog run, so that when the dogs are not in my house, they have a safe place to stay and to use for a potty area. I explained that without a dog run, the backyard landscaping could not be accomplished.He measured all areas and gave me a quote for the services needed. These were trimming and lacing back one tree 25' tall, removal of 3/4 size gravel from side of house and disposing of it and installing 2 yards of pea gravel creating a dog run. Extend drainage from dog run another 20 feet , install wire mesh on 3 drainage grates to keep dogs from damaging them. Martin suggested replacing old, leaking irrigation valves in front lawn and upgrading the indoor timer from 6 stations to 9 stations to cover all areas of irrigation in backyard. I concurred with that. I also needed 3 medium sized shrubs removed from my old damaged rear planter. He suggested that I have them install a 3/4 size valve for the garden area in the back and to change old sprinklers for the lawn and planter areas. I agreed. <br /> Because of the rainy season, the work was completed by December 30 and I did not have a problem with that. I also asked Mr. Garcia for a quote to build a new planter by rear lawn including removing old planter and constructing a new one 60 feet long by 2 feet high. He did this around the second or third week of December, completing it by Christmas. He also extended the planter sprinkler line another 25 feet. I will have him fill the planter and plant shrubs in Spring when there are more plant choices. Two of the sprinkler heads in the planter do not work, but he said that he would fix it when he comes back to complete my landscaping. I trust him as he has done an excellent job so far. He has been very friendly and thorough. He checked on his workers at least once or twice during the days they were here, even doing the work himself. We were communicating throughout the process. And he was patient with my dogs needing to be let out to the dog run to potty throughout the days of working, and he was accommodating with the changes that I had made throughout the process. <br /> In November,he also quoted me for removal of old grass and also to grade and level my backyard and to install St. Augustine plugs, including mulch, fertilizer and labor, but as time went on, in December, we decided to ask for a quote for St. Augustine sod as we were going into the winter season, and I thought it best to wait until spring when St. Augustine sod isn't dormant and would take much easier than the plugs.He emailed me this quote. This we will have them do in the spring along with placing shrubs and plants in the planter area. <br /> He also removed my old fence and irrigation from my garden and did not charge me for it, and he also removed some and quot;junkand quot; and hauled it away. That's going beyond service. They are very hard workers. <br /> Although I still need my lawn graded, and sod, plants, mulch,etc. installed in the spring (my decision), I will be happy to have Martin Garcia and crew do this work for me. <br />"

"Brad the estimator was pleasant, quick and businesslike.  We received another estimate for $5,000 (from artistic non-ISA-arborist) and a 3rd estimate for $2,150 (from non-ISA tree service).  We chose CA Arbor Care for 3 reasons: because Michael Parker, the owner, has 2 ISA arborist certifications; because Brad was certain they would use a bucket truck and the access road behind our house, and because their website was informative & intelligent. <br /> On the day of service, the tree cutters (all licensed and fully trained, BTW) had no info on the access road and they said the bucket truck was tied up on another job.  We were disappointed but gave them the go-ahead.  Good decision: the trees look beautiful and balanced.  The workers are true experts, climbed the trees with ropes, and lowered the larger/medium sized branches via ropes.  They did eventually get their chipper on the access road to reduce their effort in removing branches & to avoid the need to drag heavy wood through the backyard & around the side of the house. <br /> I**** I'd like to give them the "Page of Happiness"  award.  Did that go away from Angie's List? <br />"
