"Predatory Sales and Subpar Quality Mad City's process is predatory from start to finish. Three hours of high-pressure sales tactics in my own home, even after I repeatedly stated I needed to discuss it with my husband. After the installation the field manager acknowledging the wave and gaps in the wall, he told me that while it didn't meet my expectations, it met their "standard of error." Let that sink in: Mad City Bath?s official policy is that crooked and wavy is good enough. If you value your money, or want a shower that is actually square and plumb, stay far away from this company. They perform subpar work, hide behind automated phone lines when things go wrong, and will abandon you the moment they have your money. Hire a reputable contractor instead."

Customers say: Quick response

"Vitaly exceeded expectations with great attention to detail and quality workmanship. He walked us through selection of color, hardware and style. He really knows his craft. He showed up on time and did all he could to minimize dust and disruption to our family while he worked and then cleaned up after each workday. He replaced kitchen cabinet fronts, repaired damage to our cabinet frames, replaced hardware with soft close hinges and quality door and drawer pulls and painted our new kitchen cabinets with a very durable paint. We are thrilled with our new kitchen cabinets and he was the most reasonable of the bids we received. We highly recommend him and his company with no reservations."

"Better than I expected- couldn’t ask for better workmanship, nicer people and attention to detail. To get a company like this after what we experienced elsewhere is like winning the lottery. I couldn’t recommend them enough."

"ABSOLUTELY BEWARE! I installed painted cabinets in May 2021. By Feb 2022 they were chipping. Ever since, have been trying to work with the supplier and Showplace's rep to understand and rectify the issue. And the problems are getting MUCH worse. The paint literally will peel off if you use gentle painter's tape or even run your soft finger over an edge. It looks as if my cabinets are 20 years old and I am an extremely light user of my kitchen. My contractor and Showplace's own painter who assessed the situation agree it is adhesion problem. But Showplace keeps coming up with one excuse after another for not having any responsibility. They are claiming that mine is a "unique" issue, but now I see reviews on many sites stating this very same experience. There clearly is a manufacturing defect on painted cabinets. And Showplace does NOT stand behind its warranty. It's really disappointing because I love my kitchen overall and the cabinets are so functional. Sadly, if you are in the market for painted cabinets ... buyer beware. I am happy to share details and pictures of what I have been experiencing."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Colton, SD

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
