Small jobs welcome

"Herbert is PHENOMENAL, third generation concrete man. He came out to take measurements and came back out to discuss color and patterns with me. Never made me feel pressured to choose him after the quote. He answered the hundred questions I had texted him after the consult. Didn’t try to nickel and dime me, but went out of his way to make the project as cost effective as possible. His team was extremely friendly and professional. Herbert is honest and humble and I wish I had more concrete jobs to do because he was so great to work with."

"They did a great job on the driveway and RV access pad. Even when they had obstacles, they overcame the obstacles. Very good crew does great work. I would recommend him to anyone for any concrete work at all big or small jobs. They are very detailed and knows their stuff.. also they do it right using the right materials. James and Vickey Patten from Hendersonville. TN "

"After spending $30K with them to "repair" my foundation, it's been over a year now that I've been waiting for them to come back to finish the job and do the warranty the work that they said they would do. Since they've been paid, I can't get any response from them. The work they did was horrible, not according to the Architects plan, they used different materials and did the work improperly. They said that they would be coming back to correct it all. After several no shows and no responses, I had to file a state complaint against this company, it's owner and license holder. Meanwhile my home continues to suffer more because of their caliber of workmanship and lack of ability to do their job properly. If possible, I would not give them any stars!"

"They came as promised, did the foundation lifting as promised. The dirt they left was rock hard clay, but they came back and removed lumps and smoothed the area. It was seeded and strawed. Very nice to work with."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Columbia, TN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
