"I started off wanting a simple concrete work done on a pathway and patio. Marvin showed me paver options that I hadn't previously considered and even though they increased the price of the project, I am so much happier with the look of the end result. Everything is beautiful. The crew did fabulous work. My husband and I are looking forward to enjoying our new outdoor spaces for years to come."

"The project started exactly at the time scheduled. Dan explained the process and gave us suggestions about the upkeep of the driveway. He also provided written information. The team started right away and the project was finished that day. The finished driveway looks great and now we are just waiting for it to cure. The company responded to a question we raised after the project. We would certainly hire them again."

"Sully, the owner, was responsive to my request for a bid to replace our 2010 Subaru Outback transmission. The dealer wanted $7,500 so I was looking around for alternatives. Given positive reviews on Angie's list I reached out and was glad I did. Sully came back with two options, a used transmission and a rebuilt one. Both were less expensive than the dealer and other bids received. I went with the used one given low mileage on the transmission and the cost savings. He arranged to pick it up and install it, finishing within the timeframe he estimated. So far, so good."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Columbus, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
