"Right from the start everything went like "clockwork". Communications and scheduling were timely and accurate. Marsha kept us informed every step of the way. The estimate for the job was fair and reasonable and we signed on and scheduled the job. Showing up on time, communicating necessary information such as delivery of supplies and job scheduling are important. They followed through perfectly. The job was done in one day, the crew was professional, experienced and very clean. We are delighted with our new patio and we do not hesitate to recommend Exotic Pavers to anyone. So, do yourself a big favor, call them for an estimate...you'll be very glad you did!!"

"We thought we needed foundation work. They not only told us that was incorrect. They directed us to a structural engineer who would be able to help us. No charge. Most appreciated."

"<p>I called Hank and he was able to schedule us the same day (and an hour and 45 minutes from when I called).  He arrived on time.  We showed him the areas inside where we'd had water leaking in and then he went out to walk the perimeter of the house.  After viewing the problems areas from the outside of the house, Hank said that he would love to help us, but that our yard came up too high (all the way to the siding), was supposed to be 2 inches lower, and that he couldn't even see the foundation.  Hank recommended we have a landscaping service lower the area next to the house 2 inches and then change the grade of the yard to slope away from the house.</p> <br />"

"Absolutely beyond our expectations.  The guys were very professional, very thorough and did an outstanding job.  The office looks brand new!  We got quotes from other competitors and they were 'over-kill' - recommending the only way to get the scuffs off was to grind down the floors and restain.  That was totally unnecessary.  Our floors look brand new.  Thank you Nobel Concrete!  We will refer you everywhere. <br />"

"Joe did an excellent job everything went smooth. He is very creative on the way he lays out the front porch, sidewalk and patio. It turned out better than I ever imagined it. Definitely would hire him on my next project."

"We are very glad that we selected Clark Construction for the work at our home including some cement work, modifying our garage to accommodate a new garage door, installing new porch pillars, and putting in new doors. We are EXTREMELY pleased with the results. Matt and his crew pay close attention to the smallest of details which is wonderful. They work hard, and are very courteous. When it comes to their knowledge and skills, it is obvious they are pros. It is nice when things work out as well as they did. We will certainly be repeat customers for any future home improvement needs."

"We had some plumbing  issues and the Plumber had to cut a hole in the wall to reach the pipes they had to replace.  So we then had a large hole in the bedroom wall. As we did not want to wait a long time for this to be repaired and I had the week off from work so I could get the room painted real fast  and as I knew Mr. handyman could get the job done is a short amount of time I call MR Handyman of Grand Rapids. And just as I had thought they would be able to have the hole fixed in a very short amount of time. While it took 3 trips the hole was fixed and the work done was very good,  One complaint I will make is that there is a charge for each trip to your house. And you have to pay for ever day. So that make the price rather high for the work done, Bottom line good job but rather expensive  <br /> <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Conklin, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
