"We recently hired Dirt Dreams LLC for concrete work on our driveway and around our house, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, he was professional, punctual, and easy to communicate with. He explained the process clearly, kept the work area clean, and completed the job on schedule. The quality of the concrete work is excellent — smooth finish, clean edges, and solid craftsmanship. Our driveway looks fantastic and has completely improved the appearance of our home. I highly recommend him to anyone needing concrete work done. We would definitely hire him again."

"Pete replied to my first inquiry e-mail overnight, and made arrangements to inspect the problems with the roof for two work days from then.  After a 10-day weather-related delay, he e-mailed me and made an appointment for the next day, for which he arrived at the agreed-upon time.  He repaired the roof problem within 3 hours, and I asked him to have a listen to what I thought was a running commode.  But I couldn't locate where the leak was coming from.  After a thorough inspection, he decided to go under the house to see if there was an obvious leak.  There was - an "elbow" in the incoming water line was leaking like the proverbial sieve. Pete repaired that leak, too, and we agreed I'd call him if anything else came up. <br /> Well, something else <strong>DID</strong> come up - the very next day.  The commode which had been worked on was making a loud noise, which sounded like a freight train roaring under the house, and lasted about 5 seconds after the commode re-filled after a flush.  To say this was annoying is to say not enough; I thought I had a <em>super </em>large problem.  I called Pete the next morning, described the problem, and he said he'd be over before 6:00 pm. He arrived promptly, listened to the problem, and then replaced 2 valves.  The sound is gone, and the commode works just fine. <br /> Pete has done everything he said he would do, and in a timely manner.  His rates are very reasonable, and he verifies both the need for, and the results of, repairs with photos; furthermore, he explains the photos in detail so that everybody understands what needs to be done, and why,   <br /> Finally, Pete is a meticulous worker and cleans up the work area when he finishes.  He is a very personable man who seems to care not only about his clients and their needs, but also about performing quality work at a very fair and reasonable price. <br />"

"They contracted a local company to conduct the different repairs. Understanding that they where busy and it took them over a month to start the repairs. On the first Dayana second day they where late. Up to 2 1/2 hours late with no phone calls. Wall repairs and insulation, I had to remind the workers to install the insulation sin the wall and cealing. Placed the wrong kind of insulation in the wall and charged for a different one. Dry wall repairs where very slow and waited for 5 hours one day and another day did not show up. No phone call. On the bill charged for serviced not provided. I had to confront the item to get them done. J&S just wanted the check and subcontracted all to work. After everything was fix to specifications and I paid the bill I did not get a receipt. I had to call the company and request a receipt and written information about the work with warranty. Even thou J&S did not conduct the repairs they where overall in charge. No inspection was conducted by J&S. I hope everything holds up. It looks nice. <br />"

"We had a concrete floor put in the barn. He also reinforced the roof. He does what he says he was going to do and my first expensive did not go that well. They also put doors on it and we wanted the doors to look like barn doors. He told me that it would be two weeks to the day to get me in the house and he last week he would work on the outside on the house. Our car was giving trouble and I called him and because I know he is honest I called him and he gave us the perfect place."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Cookeville, TN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
