"Daniel came out and replaced the seal on the bottom of our garage door which mice had chewed through. Our door was 20+ years old so I expected the track that the seal went into to be outdated and it was, I couldn't even find it on Youtube, so a new track was required for the new seal to fit into. Parts and labor for this 8' metal track was only $50 in addition to the quote for the actual seal. I priced this out beforehand with competitors and I must say the pricing for everything with 1A was the lowest and very fair. I will definitely call 1A when needed again. Daniel...friendly, hard working guy with no upsell. Felt very comfortable with him. Could not have asked for a better man to help us out. Honestly. Thanks much! Rick"

"We are extremely pleased with Arno's professionalism, customer service and work. Arno listened in detail to our wishes, make recommendations and came up with a great design for a large entertainment center covering a 17 ft wall in our family room that reflected our ideas. He was also very helpful in selecting the right wood, stain color and door styles to fit the look we were going for. His cabinets automatically come with soft close etc., so there is no upselling from the quoted price. The installation, which he did with one employee, was smooth and swift. Arno was the 5th company we had asked to quote the project and we immediately liked him much better than the other contractors (much friendlier and better at listening to our wishes), so we were really excited when he also quoted us the best price!! The finished project is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully crafted and stained. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend him!"

"Great!! I found Tom Gurzi on the Nextdoor site & decided to call him foe a bathroom complete redo. I found him to understand what I wanted to accomplish & feel his prices were reasonable. The job was a complete gut & update with new tile & vanity & fixtures. With Tom’s help & guidance the finished product was exactly what I had envisioned. Tom did most of the work himself and showed his patience & skill in making my new bathroom a show piece. I would highly recommend him."

"Do make sure you and your contractor understand each other and explain exactly what you need and want.  Most often
old homes will have problems with dry rot, termites, old electrical and a good contractor lets you know you have these problems and will give you an estimate of what it will cost to fix them.  My opinion is if you are going to have a job done you should not mask problems.  We were fortunate not to have had dry rot.  The bones of our house was in very good condition.  However, our electrical panel was going to need replacing.  If you have your home already open to reside or whatever you are doing the extra time and cost is worth it.

Do check for licesne that is current.  No what type of permits will be needed."

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Cool, CA

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
