"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. "We waited to review our project 1 year after completion to be sure that all was well. We are very pleased with the final result. Our only mishap was having miscommunications with B&B when we requested follow up 4 months after project completion – our issues were resolved with a factory representative. No hard feelings. How It Went- Workers were professional and competent. Building on an existing slab is extremely challenging – because the slab slopes away and down from the house – 2 angles that need to be countered when leveling windows and doors etc. When corrective rework was needed (to compensate for a 2 inch site deviation) the team didn’t hesitate and B&B came up with an excellent solution. We retained the exterior stucco exterior of our house for the room and they finished the wall beautifully – it required a lot of fine and patient work. We asked for an 18 inch deep exterior pad – which accommodates a doormat and our foot print. It was done this way – although there was initial push back on this request. We also involved our own electrician, who is familiar with this old house – and we came up with an elegant solution to connect to our home. After project closure, we delayed evaluation until things settled out. Over the next few months, some of the sliding windows became increasingly difficult to open and close – and during an extremely fierce and long rainstorm we experienced a leak coming from one corner of the enclosure. We immediately spoke with B&B. With miscommunications with B&B, we resolved our issues with a factory representative in a single short visit: they added weep holes to the exterior, caulked, replaced a window roller and adjusted windows and the screen doors. We are very pleased with the final result. And so are our kitties."

"We were very impressed with United Builders during the bidding process for our bathroom remodel.  They were knowledgeable and particularly helpful when it came to design ideas and advice.  Of the three bids we received, they offered the best deal and the convenience of ?one-stop shopping? at their store in Van Nuys.  Plus, their reviews on Angie?s List were extensive and uniformly excellent. Their on-time estimate was eighteen days. 
The work went reasonably well for 12-15 days.  Eventually, however, we began to notice a lack of attention to detail in the way the project was being managed.   They ran out of tile and we had to wait days for more tile to arrive. They forgot or lost the vanity style and color we ordered and we had to choose again without the benefits of being in the showroom.  When the vanity was delivered it was not designed as we had requested and had to be modified.  In addition, the measurements for the vanity top were done incorrectly and a new top had to be ordered.  The second top didn?t match the tile and a third top had to be fabricated.   The mirror frame was flawed and had to be repaired.  Each misstep added many days of delay.
More importantly, as problems developed the project manager failed to communicate with us effectively.  Many days, sometimes
more than a week, would go by without the project manger visiting the project personally.  On numerous occasions we were promised a call back and did not receive one.  At times the project was delayed for many days with little or no explanation, or weak explanations at best.  At one point we were promised daily progress reports.  That never happened.  At times we waited for hours for someone to show up, not knowing when they would arrive to complete work.  We credit the project manager with the fact that no matter what problems arose, he always assured us that they would be resolved to our satisfaction and, on the whole, they were.  But, in most cases, we felt they were problems that should not have arisen to begin with.  And they were problems that repeatedly added to our stress and frustration and to unreasonable delays.
The project passed the city?s final inspection after 35 workdays, 17 days past ?on time.?  However, the shower glass and the mirror had not been installed and there were still minor problems with the vanity.  The problems with the vanity took additional weeks to resolve; much longer than necessary or reasonable. 
Our new bathroom looks great.  We are very pleased with the workmanship and the implementation of our design.  And the project was on budget.  But, getting from A to Z was a much more difficult, stressful, laborious, time-consuming process than it needed to be.  Their business description begins with ?attention to detail, micro management and great customer service.?  This was not our experience.  We cannot recommend United Builders.
