Small jobs welcome

"Bill did an awesome job on our Foyer. He stripped and refinished our slate/stone. Hard worker, very pleasant to work with, great personality. He drove over an hour to come to do this job. I have already given his name to a few people inquiring. I would definitely have him to future work for us. Thanks, Bill, for a job well done."

"We loved working with Pitell Granite! We talked to and got estimates from about 6 different fabricators. From our first visit to the shop, Dave was friendly and informative, and their estimate was one of the lowest we received. When visiting other fabricators we often felt rushed or felt like we were just a number, we NEVER felt that way with Pitell. Dave and Teresa really took the time to listen to us and our vision, and give us honest opinions and recommendations. Teresa was always quick to respond to e-mails and phone calls, always willing to answer any questions we had and just a joy to work with! From measurement to install was three weeks and the installation went off without a hitch! Everything fit perfectly, the installers were all friendly and professional and really worked to make sure that everything was perfect! They answered any and all questions we had about caring for the granite, and were very considerate of our home, cleaning up even the smallest messes and taking out their trash. The seams in our granite match up and are almost impossible to see, they listened to our requests to place certain parts of the slab in certain places, and everything looks amazing! We don't have single complaint about any step of the process with Pitell and we would absolutely recommend them! We plan to use them again in the future when we redo our bathroom and for any future granite needs!! <br />"

"I'm so glad that we found Premier. Mike and Kemper were excellent at helping us to decide what natural stone was best for our project. We looked at quite a few granite/stone fabricators and found Premier to offer the best selection and the most knowledgeable staff. The sell and fabricate the slabs, thus eliminating the middle man. We love our counters!"

"We picked out the color we wanted at Lowes. B.C. Stone set someone out to do the measuring. They were on time and very professional. We went to their warehouse to pick out the slab. They gave us a time table when it would be done--called when it was done and worked with us on a delivery time that worked for us. They were very proficient installing it and answered any questions we had."

"The whole experience with this company was top notch from the first appointment to the final countertop installment. Rose was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The gentlemen who installed were both friendly & professional (and strong!). A minor problem was promptly rectified."

"We are very pleased with the new carpeting we received from Paracca. The sales process was slow on our end, because we had never purchased carpet before. We researched online, called three providers, and waited for estimates from all three. In addition, the carpet had to be installed twice as the first set of carpets had a color defect. Paracca responded to this issue quickly and we had the second set of carpet installed within a couple weeks. Kudos to them for the customer service. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The most difficult part of purchasing carpet is understanding exactly what you are getting. We used a website called howtobuycarpet.com, and this website goes into great detail regarding the types of carpet, and carpet specifications to seek. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />We were surprised to find that none of the companies that provided estimates made it easy to compare their products, as none had the carpet specifications readily available (others tried were Young Floor Coverings and Nest Expressions). Some said nylon was the best, others said P.E.T. was fine for our use given it would be lower traffic. No one provided the pile height, pile density or face weight stats that the carpet buying website suggested were necessary to effectively compare products. These stats ultimately help you determine how long the carpet will last - though I expect our carpet to last approx. 10 years.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />We ultimately chose Paracca based on price - but we nearly went with the middle bid for a few reasons: <br /> <br />1. Paracca's flooring estimate did not initially list the square footage. When I requested this information, their square footage estimate was 25 sq ft higher than my own measurements AND the other two estimates (not great when paying by the square foot). However, their total cost was still cheaper than the others. As expected, we have over 20 sq ft left over from each installation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2. During our research process, and after we received bids, we tried to compare nylon carpet cost to PET with Paracca. Both Paracca estimates were priced exactly the same (to the penny; though I believe the Nylon was not as thick/high). The other two providers were approximately $0.75 - $1 sq ft more for nylon. I thought this was strange, but since we were not planning to use nylon given lower traffic, we let this go. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />3. When describing the products in their bids, Paracca used the exact name of the carpet, without ever attaching it to a brand. For instance, our quotes included names such as Appealing Endeavor, New Chapter III, Enticing Objective and Awesome (Nylon). I thought they were making these names up, and had to search online before I found that Mohawk had specific carpet styles with these names. It would be nice to see the carpet brand in front of the name of the style. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />All in all, there is still a shroud of mystery with respect to the specifications of the carpet we purchased, but we are pleased with the service and product that Paracca provided. <br />"

"We picked a piece of Quartz (Category Z) from Mont for installation over all of our kitchen countertops. As a wholesale distributer, Mont does not sell the stone directly to customers, but requires a fabricator. We contacted 5 fabricators in Pittsburgh, and long story short, Lexmar was by far the best. I’ll give a brief account of why we liked them so much, followed by a longer account of what happened with the other 4. Hopefully our experience will be useful to others. I don’t have enough good things to say about Lexmar, but to highlight a few: 1) very fair prices, 2) extremely nice personnel, 3) super high quality work, and 4) on schedule from start to finish (so rare in the renovation business!). Our stone was a category Z from Mont with a very heterogeneous pattern that needed to be cut into many pieces with lots of cutouts. First, Cheryl, the contact person, is truly one of the nicest and most informative people I have encountered in the renovation business. She explained the entire process to me (and it unfolded exactly as she said it would), and answered all my questions without being patronizing or impatient. Second, the guy who measured the kitchen (before the demolition of the old tiles and countertops) must have done a great job, because when the pieces arrived, they were not a millimeter off. Third, when I visited their warehouse, the stone cutter patiently worked with me for an hour to match this unusually difficult-to-work with piece of stone into the right arrangement of pieces to make the seems look continuous. He really amazed me with his artistic eye for detail and how he traced the complex pattern from one end to the next. Finally, the installation went super smoothly. They showed up on time, worked diligently to make sure the necessary structural support was there and added pieces if in doubt. They did the plumbing as well, installed the cooktop, and tested everything. The result was the most gorgeous countertops ever! (will post pics when the renovation is complete!). Could not have asked for a better experience, and could not have been happier about supporting a local business with people who truly deserve the support. For the record, here’s our experience with the other 4 fabricators that we did not hire: 1- Armina stone: The most expensive quote, i.e., exactly twice as expensive as Lexmar. No itemized pricing was provided. 2- Magnotti and Son: the second most expensive quote. I have been their customer for stone and hearthstone for two fireplaces. They provide good quality cuts, but are sometimes unnecessarily expensive. For example, they charged me 50% more for a box of limestone from Eldorado compared to another distributor. 3- Quality Granite Outlet: Same price at Magnotti and Son, but itemized and detailed. Fast response and an offer to price match. We did not follow up with them because the price was still 60% higher than the least expensive quote we had, so we figured price matching was probably not going to work out. 4- Ultimate Granite: Second least expensive option after Lexmar. I had them recommended by our tile guy, so I was interested in working with them, and their low price and good reviews were appealing. I’m afraid our experience with them left much to be desired. In contrast to Lexmar, they could not be less unfriendly. Speaking with them on the phone felt like a grand imposition. Even though the price was only slightly higher than Lexmar, when I asked them whether they were interested in matching it, they dismissed it right off the bat with no attempts to retain us. When I asked for specific prices of like backsplash, they never got back to me. So, they were naturally out."
