"This review is from work done last year. Mr. Handyman review 11/28/2018: Mr. Handyman (Eric V) sent a text with picture to say he was on the way. Overall, was very pleased with the work done and will use them again. Items fixed: Installed door sweep for the front entryway. Works fine. Took care of the draft. Replaced screen on porch door, and also stabilized the door frame. Working great."

"<p>Bill was very easy to work with. He came out to do the estimate and was on time (more about that visit later). He did not ask for any deposits, even though he had to purchase materials. He also does not mark up on materials.</p> <p>We did have to reschedule the actual work due to last-minute schedule conflicts but he was very accommodating on the rescheduling.</p> <p>He was here for two solid days for this work. Part of this time did entail purchasing what he needed. We were happy with the work that was done.</p> <p>I do want to say that Bill gets MAJOR PROPS for agreeing to be a participant during his estimate visit for a training session with our new dog. She is a rescue, and has significant issues with protection of the house. She has bitten a few people and we are working now with a behaviorist. So it turns out that the behaviorist's first visit coincided with Bill's estimate visit. He agreed to help out. Our dog has made good progress, but on that first session she was pretty intimidating. I know he was unnerved, but he was a real trooper. We did board the dog for the two days Bill was working here. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> <p>There were two items we wanted Bill to do, but he was unable to complete: new light covers for the suspended ceiling in the basement, and a new range vent cover for the exterior of the house. Apparently standard sizes have changed :-( so he is off researching where he can find the right parts. Since we had the same issues when we tried to do these tasks ourselves, I would certainly not ding Bill for not completing these tasks.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> <p>As for price, I think he was competitive. We actually had called someone else from Angie's List first. They did not come out to give us an estimate but gave us a quote based on what I told them in a message. My husband thought that was too much, so I called Bill. His price was pretty much the same, but at least he came out to see the actual work needed.</p> <br />"

FAQs for exterior shutters installation and replacement projects in Crofton, MD

The best material for exterior shutters depends on your preferences. Natural wood offers a classic and timeless look but requires more maintenance. Vinyl, composite, and aluminum shutters provide low-maintenance options with modern styles. Consider your design goals and maintenance preferences to choose the material that ensures both beauty and durability.

Professional shutter installers handle the installation of exterior and interior shutters. They ensure precise fitting and secure mounting so your shutters function properly and enhance your home's curb appeal. Hiring an experienced professional guarantees your shutters are correctly aligned and built to withstand environmental conditions, providing long-lasting protection for your home.

Estate shutters cost an average of $2,990, with prices ranging from $300 to $8,400. Their total price varies based on size, material quality, and installation requirements. While they come with a higher price tag, estate shutters enhance your home's security and add a luxurious aesthetic to your house.

Exterior window shutters are worth the cost for many homeowners, offering aesthetic and functional benefits. They enhance your home's appearance, add security, improve energy efficiency, and protect against severe weather conditions. Investing in exterior shutters can increase your home's value, make it more attractive to future buyers, and provide long-term benefits.

Whether it's cheaper to buy new shutters or paint them depends on their condition. Painting shutters costs $200 to $500 on average and can refresh their appearance if they're in good shape. However, replacing your shutters may be more cost-effective in the long run if they are significantly worn or damaged.

Double-hung, casement, and slider windows are most suitable for exterior shutters, as they accommodate standard dimensions and allow for secure attachment. Unique window types like bay, dormer, and picture windows may not work well with functional shutters due to their shapes and incur higher labor costs due to the complexity of installation.
