"Exceptional work by exceptional tradesmen. No detail was overlooked. Landscaping & surfaces were protected from paint. The crew power washed, scraped, caulked, repaired wood rot, and painted. We have windows with wood exterior muttons. The paint was applied by paintbrush. Clean crisp detailing work. Included with the job shutters & patio railing. After painting they washed the exterior windows, blew the scraped off paint chips off walkways & patios. We supplied the paint due to wanting Benjamin Moore to mix fungicide in the paint to stop Northside exterior mold on custom wood siding & dormers. The crew was so incredible. We are so pleased my husband tipped each tradesman. We are hiring them again to do interior work. We’ve worked with top flight paint crews before. Short’s crew raised the bar on skill set, attention to detail, respect for the property and were pleasant. We couldn’t be happier. Money well spent."

"This went really well. First off, Michael was very quick to respond when I was calling various companies to get estimates. He gave me the estimate and set up a time to come do the work that would best work with my schedule, which ended up being a Saturday. On the day of the work, he showed up on time, took measurements, and assessed the best solution. Along the way he told me exactly what he was going to do and why in order to replace the post. He took the time picking out lumber that would best match my other posts so that you would not be able to tell it was replaced. As part of the replacement, he set this post slightly up off the ground, so that water would funnel around the wood instead of directly hitting it. He documented and showed me this step, because you can’t see it after the finishing molding was put on. He also made sure to clean up the work area when he was done. There was no stray nails/screws or wood pieces left out. After he was finished he showed me all the work that was done to verify I was happy with the completed project and emailed me documentation of the project. All in all, I would say it went very well."

"Our brick ranch house was in need of TLC on the old fiber board siding, which my wife and I have painted four times ourselves. We wanted to make the exterior maintenance free with a good quality vinyl siding. We contacted five separate companies, four of which were listed in Angie’s list, to get estimates. We chose The Home Improvement Co. They were neither the highest nor the lowest estimate. We based our decision on the reviews in Angie’s list, pictures of the work that had been accomplished on other jobs, and Matt’s straight forward honest presentation. Matt convinced us that one of the most important details of this work is an experienced crew that knows how to work with the material. We had chosen the insulated backed vinyl siding. The crew (Kevin and Rueben) and Matt arrived Friday and started the demolition on the west side of the house. We were having all the old siding removed and replaced with new board, moisture barrier, and the vinyl siding. They completed that side including cleanup in one day. The whole job was completed by the following Friday. The crew was great. They were friendly and professional, and they worked well together as a team. They answered any question we had and honored any request we made. They also wrapped all the windows and doors with aluminum coil. They transformed the exterior of our home. We are completely satisfied. We comment to each other every time we pull into the driveway how good our home looks now. We still plan on replacement windows and a new back door. "Purchased Angie's List special - 3 hours handyman work.  Mr. Schwenzer faced a daunting task - due to severe foundation issues, one side of the upstairs bedroom door had dropped down considerably, preventing the door from even coming close to closing.  He had to remove the door and all the trim and framing, cut away part of the drywall to square the opening, and then replace everything.  He was able to do so without damaging any of the trim or framing, and the door now closes easily and perfectly.  It took the full three hours and I could not be happier with the result.  I found Mr. Schwenzer to be knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and the quality of his work excellent.  I highly recommend him.
