"We paid him $2,500 to take down the existing porch step and build another. Also he was supposed to repoint the brick sidewalk. As you can see, by the pictures below, the mortar was only applied over the top of the existing mortar. The mortar began cracking and breaking off immediately. He finished the job on Oct. 31, 2025. We called him back the following day to discuss the height of the new step, which was out of code, too high, which made it dangerous. He said he would return on December 11th. He called on December 10th and said it was too cold to do the work. He said he would call in the Spring. On January 8th, I sent photos to show the mortar was already coming out and this was not acceptable and asked him to repair it but I have not heard from him. We had someone come today. He will have to remove the mortar that he put in and repoint. We want a partial refund for the additional expense to have it redone correctly. "

"I hired Jovel to build stairs, retaining walls and planters connecting my existing patio to a new patio that I also hired Jovel's company to build. The stairs, retaining wall and planters were completed in September. In October, I had a licensed inspector at my home for another project and he pointed out that the stairs Jovel had built did not meet code. The inspector stated that stairs must be of equal rise and the lower and upper stairs were not in acceptable range with the other two. He also stated that three or more stairs required a handrail and that the stairs were POOR construction. Jovel has refused to correct the issue or refund any money paid. "Initial rep was great and informative. Felt comfortable with initial sale. Hardly had any contact from customer service except for the payments. There were several delays that we were not informed about unless we called to ask. Took 7 months before they showed up to begin project. Only 1 person was sent to build steps. Took a week. Hard worked, hardly took a break. Had to call again to see when they would come to pour patio. Never knew when they were coming, they just showed up. Hardly spoke with the homeowners. Inspection paperwork was just left on porch. Additional paperwork that is "required by the County" had to be completed by homeowner and taken to Court house to be notarized and filed and also provide a copy back to Long Fence. Time sensitive materials which added to homeowners to-do list. Gave this contract to LF on the surface of their history and appearance of a 'good local company' but should have stayed with original contactors in VA. Puddle of water forms when it rains"
