"Two friends separately recommended Jim Tanis and his company, Expert Carpet Care. My friends were so right! Jim and his company are the best. They are not the cheapest contractor but their work was worth every cent."

"The salesman met us in our home on a Sunday within a week of our initial call. He was very professional and showed us a range of options at different price points. However, Costco does not sell "cheaper" carpet, so even the least expensive options were rather "high-end." We got a good deal on a very nice Shaw berber carpet with Stainmaster protection and a very soft upgraded pad, which makes it very comfortable to walk on barefoot. We were told it would be installed in less than 1 week, but it was actually about 2 weeks before installation. A couple calls to Costco's central number were required to follow-up on the situation before we received a return call from the installer. On the day of installation, they arrived earlier than the scheduled time and finished ahead of schedule. They do move furniture, but with some major caveats. We had to hire a piano mover to move our grand piano out of the way -- the installers wouldn't touch that. They also will not move any electronics, and they ask that drawers be removed from furniture (or emptied out if the drawers can't be removed). This wound up being very time-consuming for us. But overall we are very satisfied with the results -- a huge upgrade!"

"Excellent! Professional outfit. Easy to work with and flexible. They knew what I was trying to accomplish, and it was more of a "point them in the right direction" and let them take care of it all. There were some delays caused by a suspected leak, so an inspection interrupted the original schedule. They worked me back into their schedule quickly so I didn't have to "go to the back of the line", so to speak. Quality of work was good and the carpet was appropriate to my budget for renovating the unit. Obviously not their first rodeo. Will use again for another listing coming up."

"We had lightly colored carpets that had significant pet stains in some areas that we were afraid wouldn't come out. Enrique spent half a day working on the carpets and in the end, they looked brand new."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Cypress, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
