"Kirk was able to correct both of my plumbing issues very quickly...a faucet that had very little water coming out and a slow draining sink. He also checked the water pressure at the front of the house..it is a bit high so we are going to decide the next step on this. I am always pleased at the communication from Valley Plumbing and most of all I am pleased with Kirk's professionalism, courtesy and skill in solving my problems. Highly recommended. I felt the price was fair and appreciated the senior discount."

"Excellent. Two employees did the job. Nice guys. Very polite and they were able to complete a complex job on time. I would definitely hire this company if I ever needed a plumber. The guy who sold us on the job was extremely knowledgeable which is why I selected this company."

"This is the third time I have used Albert Nahman. This time was for a water leak with an unclear origin. They did a great job diagnosing the problem and took the time to explain what they found and offer options on potential fixes. I really appreciate the care their plumber took in tracking down the problem and providing a realistic quote for the cost and time to fix the problem. They also arrive on time and do a great job cleaning up after the work is done. A+++ company. Will definitely use them again the in future."

"JPC team did an excellent, professional job on our storm water sump pumps related project. (Two sump pumps were working; they did not need repairs.) 1) Cut and replaced two broken pipes; installed new valves 2) New float sensors installed and set to auto-start the sump pumps 3) long outflow pine, connecting to city's water drainage system, was cleaned using long snake and high pressure water pump combination. 4) successful final test with water filled in water chamber and sump pumps working 5) JPC gave warranty for work done and signed up for once-a-year annual maintenance visit in October."

"The team I worked with at BAU was great. I hired them to repair some minor vertical and horizontal foundation cracks that were found in a recent general home inspection. Everyone who came out was upbeat, professional, punctual, thorough, and highly detailed. Hunter came out first to check the entire foundation and give a free estimate. They then split the work up into two dates, and each crew was great. Michael and James came out first for the initial round, and then Alexander and Gabe came out to wrap up the last few areas. The guys were always on time, which is greatly appreciated. Both repair teams also did their own additional checks of the surrounding areas, also greatly appreciated. They were also able to provide before and after pictures, and were respectful of the property."

"Superior plumbing has saved the day for me on countless occasions. I hit a sewer pipe with a lawnmower because it was sticking out of the ground and hidden by overgrown grass. I didn't know what it was, and sewage started coming out a few days later. I had another plumbing company come out and quote me $30k for a sewer lateral. I then had Superior Plumbing come out since they had recently installed a sewer lateral for my parents' house for much less. They said a piece of the pipe fell into the pipe, causing it to clog. They pulled out the piece, then cut the pipe to the ground and put a concrete cap that said "sewer," so I wouldn't hit it with the lawn mower again. It cost $1700 instead of $30k! Last week, the landscapers hit the cast iron sewer pipe coming from the bathroom outside. I immediately called Superior Plumbing, and they came out in 30minutes, as luckily they were close by. They addressed the issue and returned a few days later to replace the pipe with PVS, which proved to be very affordable. I then had them return to strap pipes under the house and install a water pressure regulator, as the water pressure was 95 when it should be 60. This could cause major problems with too high water pressure down the road with burst or leaking pipes. Look no further than Superior Plumbing for your plumbing needs!"

"The job finally got done, but it was a painful process. We called WDR around 9am and were told someone would be at our house between 12pm and 2pm to extract the water. Someone showed up at 2pm and did not have a large enough extractor to do the job. He called for another truck to come with a larger extractor. The 2nd truck showed up with two people in it shortly after 4pm and their extractor was also not large enough to do the job. They estimated that it would take them 5 hours to extract all of the water in our basement with their 100 gallon extractor. They sent the first truck to San Leandro to pick up a sump pump to pump the water out onto the street (fortunately, it was clean water). While the first truck driver was picking up the sump pump, the 2 men in the 2nd truck refused to continue to pump out the water with their truck until we signed their contracts. They provided us an estimate of $1140 when they had been at our house for almost 4 hours without having done very much work. We finally settled on an agreement just as the 1st driver showed up with the sump pump. An hour and a half later, the job was done and the final quote we were given was very fair, almost half of the original estimate. Toward the end of the job, the team was accommodating and worked to reduce cost by sending home everyone but the lead tech.
Having a flooded basement is traumatic and having a water extraction team that wasted so much of our time and energy was not at all helpful. Fortunately, everyone was nice and cordial and we worked out a satisfactory deal in the end, but unfortunately, I can't say that I would use this service again.

"Few week ago I realized that I have a hot water leak somewhere in the lines because the water was not getting as hot as it use to, the main burner of the water heater was running all the time and water meter needle kept spinning even if all the taps in the house were closed. And finally high PGand E bill showed up for excessive gas utilization. I was worried how to find the leak since there was no seepage or dampness visible anywhere in the house. I called around several plumbers to get an idea what to do. They all told me that the leak has to detected and pin pointed first before any repair can be done. After talking to 4 different plumbers on the phone I decided to go with Savior Plumbing. I spoke to Tom, owner of the company, and he sent in his manager Darrell to examine the house plumbing and give suggestions and preliminary estimate. Darrell arrived on time and thoroughly examined the problem. Darrell informed me that since my house is on the slab and I have no attic due to vaulted ceilings; re-piping of the hot water line will be very expensive and difficult task. He recommended to pin point the leak and then dig a hole by breaking the concrete and patch the leaky pipe. Darrell recommended Steve from "Independent Leak Detection" to detect and pin point the leak. Steve arrived on time and by utilizing specialized equipment for underground leak detection mapped out all the pipes underneath the slab in my house. He then pin pointed the leak in my atrium, what a luck !!! The leak could have been very well in my bed room or living room. I was relieved immensely that the interior of the house does not have to be dug out. Next, Tom came in to give the estimate and schedule the work. Tom estimated 4 - 5 hours of work including cutting the bricks, breaking the concrete, digging the dirt, patching the pipe and the putting the dirt back in. Next Monday he sent in one of his experienced plumber, Mike. Mike arrived on time and worked with great efficiency. He finished the 4 - 5 hours job in only 2.5 hours and cleaned up all the area after finishing. He also replaced a leaky pipe on water heater. The total cost was $383.49 plus $250.00 for leak detection. The job was done professionally and I am very pleased with Tom and his workers. I now just have to put the new bricks to close the hole; I think I can do that on my own."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Danville, CA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
