"These two guys called ahead to alert me they were 20 mins out, showed up on time, and were super clean - took off their shoes and laid down protective coverings on my hardwood floors. They did a thorough inspection outside and in and allowed me to watch their live camera inspection so there would be no surprises later, i.e. photo-shopped pics of my debilitated chimney. These guys couldn't have been more professional, friendly or knowledgeable - they gave me options for the future and capped off my chimney with a steel cap so that no rain or chimney swifts or other small animals come inside while I'm waiting to begin the work. I need a new steel liner and I knew this needed to be completed so there were no surprises. My housing inspector (not a great one) had recommended Jack Pixley for the job. Turns out Jack Pixley has been dead for over 4 years and his one-time great company is doing shoddy work. His son now runs 2nd Generation chimney. No Pixley's own or work for Jack Pixley. So if someone recommends Jack Pixley, go with a real Pixley and call 2nd Generation Chimney. These two did not sugar-coat what I was looking at spending should I rebuild the chimney. They gave me alternatives for inserts that are way cheaper than repairing the original structure, gave me the pros and cons of both jobs, and did NOT try to sell me ANYTHING. As a new homeowner, whom everyone and their uncle is attempting to sell something to, I appreciate this approach. They are also CSIA certified and that bears weight with me - I value my home enough to go the extra mile in ensuring it is protected by having specialists perform the work. I will definitely go with them when the time comes. I trust them and that is often worth $$$ to me. <br />"

"Excellent experience overall.  Frustrations along the way were very minor, including a later than advertised start date due to jobs before us.  Before contracting with Roncor, I checked four references.  Every single one of them could not speak highly enough of Roncor, and all but one invited me over to their house to view Roncor's work. <br /> Roncor worked closely with us from the design phase, and offered a number of flexible designs in a variety of budgets.  There was never any sales pressure.  Once under contract, they were always responsive.  Another minor frustration was that the job took twice as long as they had predicted, but this was partially due to bad winter weather.  <br /> In the middle of the job, we had significant problems with window delivery from the window supplier.  Roncor went to bat for us and got us a nice refund on the windows.  The quality of the work was excellent throughout.  Whenever I had a concern, the lead carpenter responded promptly and without complaint.  All people that worked on the project were friendly, polite, and responsive.  The job site was always left very clean.  When the job was complete, there were a few minor things that they were unable to finish due to the harsh winter.  They said they'd be back in the spring to complete the work along with doing any minor repairs or patches that were needed.  We did not have to contact them this spring.  They contacted us, scheduled the work, and came out promptly and finished it. <br />"

"This experience was excellent. <br /> He called me back within a few hours of my message and offered to come over that same day because he was in the area. I told him that we were certain we would need a camera inspection of the chimney - but he told me that rather than go ahead with that right away, he could swing by and take a look. He said those cost a lot more and often he can tell if the chimney is in good enough shape/or poor enough shape just by the visual inspection first. He said if it turned out that he'd need to do the video after all, he wouldn't charge us for the visit to come back. This honesty was refreshing from other companies we've experienced - and it saved us hundreds of dollars.  <br /> We went ahead with the visual inspection and after 20 minutes on our roof he came down and showed me a video of what he found on his iPad. I was very impressed with his knowledge/professionalism and the use of technology to show me what was going on with my chimney. I approved the work to remove the plug and he inspected the chimney and took video of the inside. When my husband got home, he showed him the video too - and then showed us pictures in a photo album of different situations and scenarios. He spent 2 hours with us but we only paid for the original visit charge (plus the service cost). Most places charge again if they are there longer than the first hour. <br /> He told us what work needed to be done by a masonry company and offered to help us find a place that could do our small job. He was very helpful in giving us tips of what to look for when working with wood stove companies so we don't get scammed or have the cheap version installed, thus making our chimney less safe. We appreciated all of the education and help and advice we received. After what he found, there wasn't immediate work to have him do, so I was surprised that he still invested so much energy talking with us about the process. Down the road when we have chimney sweep work to be done or other issues, Jim is the only person I would call. <br />"
