We called 4 different contractors, John from Don Green's Dirt Service was the only one that called us back. He came out within the week and gave us a quote. It took time trying to discuss with 10 people. John stopped out for a second time and gave us 3 different options as price was a concern. Once we all agreed on price/work, John and his team were able to come out the next week and complete work. A few of us watched the whole process. You could tell how efficient they were as doing this many times. Work was completed in 1 day and for quote amount. There was extra gravel used but John did not charge us any extra. The road looks great and concerns were fixed. John and his team took the time to walk us thru the project and inspect before payment. They did such a great job on this we are having them back in the spring to clear part of our land.

"It took some time for Mike to actually work on my Driveway and Patio. This was NO fault of his as neither of us knew the City of New Hope wouldn't allow heavy vehicles on their side streets until after April 15th. The heavy equipment needed were the rucks to remove the previous driveway and patio material. Throughout the entire process I was called numerous times if anything got in the way. The craftsmanship was superb and the price was very reasonable. Mikes team was very professional and responsive to any concerns I had. I have already asked for a few future projects to be bid with the intention of having those worked on either later in the year or next year. The speed, accuracy and detail they achieved was exactly what I was looking for. Great company to work with and Mike runs a tight ship."

"They delivered the products that we had agreed on. They came and gave an estimate to do our landscaping but no drawing or planning...just a final cost. It also took more than one day to typically get a return phone call.

"Aiden was easy to work with and we are extremely happy with our new sidewalk and steps. The crew worked non stop and Aiden made sure to communicate with us when we needed to make small changes along the way. I asked for the job to be done by May 10th and they delivered. I would definitely recommend hiring C.B. Concrete and Masonry."

"The workers on site were wonderful -- we were very happy with the work as it was being performed, and they were very careful with surrounding area (drive, sidewalk, lawn) and did an excellent job overall. They were friendly and very respectful of us and our home/yard - a joy to have around.
My dissatisfaction was with the level of responsiveness I received from the owner after accepting his bid and sending a deposit check in (up until the deposit was sent, he was very quick to give a bid, explain the process, and return calls to answer questions).
After being told that the landscape crew was "a few weeks out" it took about 6 weeks for the job to happen, and that was after several calls to the owner to get an update on status. I understand that other projects ahead of mine may fall behind schedule or go beyond scope, however I was never updated on timing at all and was left wondering if he even received the paperwork with the deposit check. The only proactive note I received from him was the email on Friday at 5p indicating that the crew can start Monday morning, and 'will someone be there that morning'.
Upon project completion, my husband inadvertently gave payment in full, per the invoice, to the lead worker at the site (not factoring in the deposit check I sent in 6 weeks earlier to secure the bid). After immediately contacting the owner to let him know about the mistake, I asked him not to cash the check. I received no reply, and 3 weeks later the check was cashed. Now I need to go thru the hassle of trying to get that deposit money refunded. While the work performed was wonderful, the business management and
customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

My new garage/shed was finished approximately one year after I signed the contract with Heinen.  He did a good job of designing the garage (in his head; no drawings) in a way that was economical and works.  Greg Heinen is very personable and generally easy to talk to.  We talked over options and worked through questions and decided on a final design.  My dissatisfaction mostly arises from the length of time it took to finish the work and the difficulty I had in knowing what was going on with the construction schedule.

Problems started (at least in part) due to heavy rains in June of 2014, which seemed to get everything delayed for months.  I also now (in hindsight) think that because Greg is a relatively small general contractor who works with a number of subcontractors, the delays were due to the availability of many of his subs.  The original start date was to be June of 2014, then pushed back to late July, and then he couldn't give me a date and stopped communicating with me. A crew finally came to demolish the existing garage in late September.  The general pattern was that Greg would tell me when crews would be out, more often than not the crew would not show up on that day, and I would get a series of promised start dates that also did not happen.  Construction continued sporadically in this manner through October and November, and in December I had a garage that was usable (although without electricity except via extension cord).  This spring they finished up with a new driveway (the first was incorrectly put in) and the electrical hook-up.  Some of what I wanted for the garage/shed did not occur and I had to decide whether it was more important to get the garage done or to get it done in accordance with the contract.  Because it was so late in the year, I generally decided on getting things done.  The item that I am most unhappy with is the eave depth. They were supposed to be 18" but wound up being only 12".  Since the roof trusses. were brought onsite pre-constructed, I didn't realize the depth was off until they and the walls were up  so I could measure.  By that time it was late October or November and I needed a garage for the winter.

In general, my experience with the subs is that a few of them showed up when they were supposed to and worked full days, but more of them seemed to show up about 10 a.m. and leave about 3 p.m.  One crew of two showed up at 10 and I saw one of the guys standing around for two hours.  He said they had thought nails would be there, but the right kind of nails weren't there, so the other guy had to get them.  So, it took this guy 2 hours to get the nails (!) and then they left at 3.  On the other hand, the crews that did the framing and put in the second driveway did an excellent job, and the garage and shed function well.  I wonder if part of the problem is that Greg trusts his subs and some of them take advantage of that. Greg seldom came out to see how things were going and seemed to just ask the subs what was going on and simply take their word for it.

In summary, I got the garage and shed we discussed (with the exception of a few items which Greg readily removed from the final cost) and am happy with how it works.  The process of getting the garage, however, is not one I'd like to go through again.

"We used CB Concrete for two recent projects at our home. The first was replacing existing sidewalk and entryway steps. Adin was the first contractor to get back to me when I sent out for bids. Not only did he offer the most competitive price, the work was done right on time and turned out very good. We have had many compliments from our neighbors. I contacted Adin shortly after his first job was completed when the contractor I hired to replace my front porch discovered crumbling foundation and a giant hole that needed to be filled. Adin came out to look at it the day I called him. He worked closely with the contractor that was working on the porch and completed the job very satisfactory. I would highly recommend CB Concrete to anyone."
