"Pete Duda great job. He removed a large wood stove and large platform of brick it was sitting on. He installed an electric fireplace insert. He was very considerate in covering furniture and cleaning up all debris. I am enjoying my new fireplace. I highly recommend Pete . He is a professional and a true craftsman."

"They were great at answering all of my questions and worked to get me on the schedule as quickly as possible. No air conditioning during an Atlanta summer escalates the need! They even cleaned up well upon completion."

"Daryl did a great job! We had a 21 year old water heater and desperately needed a new one installed. Daryl assessed what we needed to install and what we needed to update on his initial visit and agreed on pricing. In day of install, he worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done. Thanks Daryl! "

"Problem #1 is that they made a mess and killed some of my shrubs. It was a multi day project where they came out and pressure washed the pergola to clean it. Several plants in the surrounding area had some fibrous material stuck on them, which couldn't be removed, and several other shrubs died due to the chemicals they used. Problem #2 is that the staining was uneven and now I have several segments that are different shades. The lighter shaded areas don't seem to repel any water either. Problem #3 is the biggest problem. There are now several carpenterbee holes all over the pergola. We have had carpenter bees make homes in our fence before, but the origional seal kept the bees off the pergola. We have had this pergola for 5 years, and not one carpenter bee issue until we had it redone by Sterling."

"Several years ago I used T&J Exteriors to replace 3 or 4 windows on a recently purchased home, so I contacted them again when I decided to replace the rest. My first experience was great; the owner met with me to determine what I needed and to answer questions. After the installation, he called to make sure I was happy with the product and service. My second experience was different; I had to leave a few messages before I heard back from the owner. He told me that he subcontracted out all his window jobs, saying someone would be out to measure. The man who did the measuring and the man who actually installed my windows were professional and competent, and I love the quality the windows. After the job was completed I did not contacted by the anyone to see if I was satisfied, but about a week later I got a call asking for payment. Maybe I am just old school but I believe spending more than $5,000 with a company entitles me to at least a "thank you for your business"."

"After replacing my roof, I still noticed water leaks in my attic. I called Bob at Beaty Masonry to look at my Chimney. There were definitely cracks in the mortar on both the sides of the chimney and the crown of the chimney. After scheduling time with him to complete the task, he came and completed it in one day. Bob cleaned off the chimney, ground out some of the old mortar, matched the color and then re-mortared the exterior of the chimney. His work exceeded my expectations on quality, cost, and time taken and I couldn't be happier. I have included an image of before and after, with the before picture on the left, after picture on the right."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Decatur, GA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
