"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"We called our vendor because the equipment was not working. When the service man came out said couldn't be fixed. Installed a newer model. Was not a little less expensive than we thought - but the serviceman & product performed superiorly so was more than worth what we paid."

"After repairing first job, I asked to check small leak from other faucets. He went out to find parts and spent 40 minutes. Parts were cartridge of faucet(Delta). He charged that too. I asked a similar job to my friend. But I took about an hour(Plumber took 2hr 15 mins)"

"P.Dennis Murphy was prompt, cordial, thorough. He was everything a home inspector should be and more. He not only made suggestions but suggested how to go about fixing them. BEST OF ALL, he doesn't leave you. Later on, after I had moved in, I was afraid there might be water in the basement. He came over (within the hour!) to inspect. (no water just excess moisture due to lack of air flow which he explained how to fix and choices of who to call). I have called him several times for suggestions for my home. He has always been glad to get my phone call and eager to help. He says this is a lifetime service he is glad to provide. Can't get much better than that! <br />"

"I am selling my house and the radon test came back high. I got quotes from several vendors and Central Illinois Radon Mitigation was several hundred dollars lower than their closest competitor. They offer the same 5-year transferable warranty and are licensed, so it was an easy call who to go with. From quote to completion it took less than two weeks to get the system installed. David and the other installer were very attentive to cleanliness, using drop cloths throughout the house and cleaning up the work area when they were done. My only complaint is that they disposed of the gravel they removed from under the house in my backyard and I didn't find it until later."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Deer-creek, IL

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
