"Don was great and was very reasonably priced. I told him what some of the big name plumbing companies quoted me and he literally laughed out loud. Being a single female I feel like most contractors will charge outrageous amounts because they think I will pay whatever. Don is not like this he is an honest and trust worthy man. When I ever need any plumbing jobs in the future he will be the first guy I call."

"I had a bathroom sink that had a shutoff valve that stripped and was unable to turn off. It also had a pretty good leak under the sink. I called Ken Neyer Plumbing and from the moment I called was met with professional and friendly customer service. Nathan and Shelby responded to the service call and were outstanding. Both arrived promptly and ready to work. Their communication was great. They kept me well informed before, during and at the completion of the service call. They were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend Ken Neyer Plumbing."

"Tom was great, he asked questions, assessed the issue(s) and quickly quoted the job. He even noticed something that was not correct from a previous plumbing company, we were able to have that fixed due to still being under warranty. Overall, Tom came out, did the job, and left as if he was never there. We've kept his business card and he will be the first we call with any other issues!"

"Beware, the price charge was not what I was quoted. The person told me that I was on the clock from the time he left the previous location, not when he arrived to start the work. I couldn’t believe it. I was given no receipt and was told that it would be mailed to me… I still have not received the receipt."

"We were having problems with what turned out to be a broken sewer line, causing intermittent backups and flooding during heavy rain. Two other plumbers managed to get the drain flowing again but neither gave us a definite diagnosis without a contract to dig. Nieman quickly diagnosed the problem, gave the best price by far, and initially tried a trenchless repair. That proved to be unfeasible, and the job was re-spec’d for excavation. The guys did a careful and highly efficient excavation, replaced the broken saddle tee, and brought in gravel to stabilize the backfill. Two weeks later they returned and removed the spoils. I’m very happy with the results, and that Neman honored their price estimate even with the added excavation work. My only complaint was getting the work scheduled, which took more calling (about 6 calls from me vs. two return calls) than I thought should be necessary. Otherwise everyone involved was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and admirably professional."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Dillsboro, IN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
