"It went smoothly exactly as Paul described the job. His crew installed a sump pump and ensured in drained to the curb. The crew replaced the drain run to the curb and dug around the existing bushes. The crew also connected the the roof downspout to the run to the curb. The crew installed a perforated pipe in a trench which created a floating basement floor on 3 sides of the basement. (the 4th wall was not necessary since was an interior wall.) They concreted over the pipe with a gap to the wall. they repaired and painted the basement walls."

"The sink had drained slow for years until nothing we did would clear the drain. After a power snake got stuck in the line and had to be cut out, he pulled the vanity, put a discreet opening in the wall, pull the toilet (right beside the sink), replaced all the piping to the drain going to the basement, ran the snake again......and finally after 16 yrs. we have a REAL bathroom sink! He put everything back the way he found it, and didn't charge us what most plumbers would have. I couldn't be more pleased."

"Crew was excellent, professional and responsive. New block, excavation and replacement with steel reinforcements was also excellent. Issues related to finish and tie-in work that were not of the same quality as the 2003 replacement of the side foundation by the Company. Blue board gap shows at soil foundation to house brick level (response - Company’s prior sub did faux brick gap finish on his own! Only now sole water leak is at joinder of Company’s new foundation to old - response: you should pay for water proofing! Caution: Be aware, contract and watch the finish work of the project!"

"It went very well! Tim came to the apartment and looked at the issue. He told me that he will place the order for the new and more efficient unit than the old boiler and install asap. Tim's crew came the following Monday to demolish the old boiler and installed the new boiler on the same day. The new boiler was up and running on the same day. It was a smooth startup!"

"Ricky and his crew did a great job working in difficult weather conditions to complete both a large interior and exterior waterproofing project for us. We appreciated the team's communication regarding progress and keeping us involved as needed throughout. The initial project quoting process with Ron was informative and the price was fair. We have not yet had a significant rainfall, but fully expect that their work will keep our basement dry. Looking forward to them coming back to fix downspout drainage issues, grade project area, and re-seed grass in the spring."

"I had hired Dan before to install backsplash in my kitchen, so it was a no-brainer to hire him again for this project. Dan is very conscientious about his work & goes the extra mile to make sure you get exactly what you ask for. He does all the leg work, even made the arrangements with the vendor to have the granite installed around the tub. He provided a written estimate & arrived on time every day. I would definitely recommend Alustrius Design for any remodeling you need done."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Dover, OH

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
