"We contracted Nei Brothers to give us an estimate of replacing the carpet in our entire house. Dennis was extremely knowledgable about his products. The level of service on our first visit convinced us that this was the company for us. <br /> The work was done in 2 phases to lessen the disruption to our special needs child. They made sure to have his bedroom completed and ready for him before he came home from school. The quality of the workmanship cannot be beat. The quality of the materials used far exceed our expectations. Because we had this done on two different days, the clean up between each phase was outstanding. Overall this company is one of the best service companies I have ever dealt with. <br /> I would and do recommend NEI BROTHERS to anyone in need of carpet! <br />"

"Very well. The installers were right on time, approximately 9:00 a.m. and finished the job around noon. It was an excellent job, with much effort put into the stretching of the carpet to ensure the proper fit on all sides. The cutting around the edges was very precise, in fact, to the point where no quarter or half round trim was necessary along the walls. The installers cleaned up completely afterward. Our only complaints: 1)The Home Depot ad listed a sale price per sq. yd. for the carpet but our purchase rang up an incorrect price (the sale price wasn't in the computer). Home Depot, however, corrected it immediately after we showed them the ad, so there was no problem. 2) We were told the carpet would be delivered in late June but delivery wasn't made until mid-July."

"Everything went extremely well. The installers were punctual and very friendly. They did all of the heavy lifting, moved the furniture out of the areas that were to be carpeted, repositioned the furniture after the carpets were installed, and brought in the new furniture which was stored in the garage. We will hire them back in the springtime when we have the rest of the house (second floor and stairway) carpeted."

"I was very pleased with Nex flooring and the job that they did for <br /> me. <br /> I initially contacted Nex Flooring via Angie's List message center. I wanted to <br /> get a quote for removing laminate flooring in the family room and replacing it <br /> hardwood flooring. Mike replied to my email inquiry in a timely manner and we <br /> agreed on a day and time for him to visit my home for a quote. Unlike most <br /> other contractors I have dealt with, Mike called me while he was the way to <br /> keep me posted that he might be a few minutes late. He took the measurements <br /> for a quote and, again, sent it to me on a timely manner. We agreed on a price <br /> which was very fair. In turn, Mike established a day to start the project. <br /> A few days before the start of the project, Mike's dad, Bill, delivered the wood <br /> to my home to allow it to "acclimate to the environment." He was very <br /> friendly and helpful. On the day the project was schedules to start, Bill <br /> arrived with two other workman arrived right on time. <br /> As soon as they started to remove the laminate, they discovered <br /> that there was particleboard under the laminate...rather than plywood, <br /> which is required for laying hardwood flooring. This was going to be an unexpected expense <br /> of removing the particleboard, purchasing plywood and cutting/installing the plywood. <br /> Bill and I went to HomeDepot and I purchased the plywood and Mike gave me fair price for the labor <br /> involved. The workmen did a great job of installing the hardwood flooring. They applied <br /> four sample stains on the hardwood that allowed me to make a decision on which one I <br /> likes best. They did a great job of sanding, staining and applying three coats <br /> of water-based protection. <br /> I would use Nex flooring again, In fact, I plan to do so. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Downers Grove, IL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
