"A fantastic experience from start to finish, BGL transformed our vague intentions into concrete form. We needed a soil and grass lawn converted to a rock garden with undemanding but beautiful flora. An adjacent ramp and slab needed to be replaced to correct their inclines. BGL rapidly produced a striking design and then enacted it rapidly and thoroughly. In addition to the concrete work, stone walkways were placed and a drip irrigation system was installed and integrated."

"

When I called Salvador, he surprised me by answering the phone himself, as I was expecting to have to leave a message! He came the next morning right on time to assess the job and provide an estimate. We set an appointment for the following week and again he arrived on time. The job was probably a piece of cake for him, but for me, it had grown to be too time-consuming and strenuous, especially trying to haul away all those leaves. Although my backyard is small, it has river rock, moss boulders, lots of container plants, in-ground shrubs, many pieces of statuary, a fountain and birdbaths; in other words, a lot of obstacles, AND, the ground is slightly elevated. Salvador blew the leaves, bundled them up, and then went back over the entire yard a second time, making sure every leaf and twig was bundled up again! They did an extremely thorough job. Salvador ROCKS!

YES, we will have him back to do a concrete sidewalk repair, because two sections have lifted due to tree roots. We also plan to have Salvador return a third time to trim and shape Japanese maples and crape myrtles in the backyard, because other reviewers have commented on his tree trimming abilities. It seems this talented, punctual and meticulous man can do most anything. We recommend him highly. And oh, by the way, he is so very pleasant, considerate and easy to talk with.

"It was fine. They did a good job. I have no problems. They were easy to get ahold of. I got what I expected. It was so far so good. I saw their work on another project nearby to my place and that's when I asked them to do mine."

"Spectrum One is our choice over and over again for renovating our home, which was built in the 1960s. Dennis comes out and looks at the scope of the project and gets back to you in a timely manner with an incredibly detailed and professional proposal. He takes into account your vision for the home and offers suggestions for improving the project or explains how the team can make that vision come to life. The project managers who oversee the project from start to finish have been diligent, respectful and ensure that the work being done is of the highest standards. They are on-site every day with a whole team working to get the job done as beautifully and as quickly as possible. The attention to detail from the whole group is what I most appreciate. We have used them for whole-home flooring (removal, installation and baseboards), recessed lighting, countertops, backsplash and would trust them with any project. We recently completed a third project with Spectrum One that included widening doorways, redoing an outdated fireplace hearth, and remodeling two bathrooms. Everyone at Spectrum One is quick to respond, honest, creative, and fun to be around. We love them and highly recommend to anyone looking to do a renovation, repair, or build!"

FAQs for concrete finishing, overlays & coloring application projects in Drytown, CA

With proper care, a stained concrete floor easily lasts 20 years or more. Reapply sealer every two to four years to protect against moisture, scratches, and daily wear. Routine sweeping, occasional damp mopping, and prompt repairs keep the surface looking sharp and protect the slab underneath, preserving both function and resale value.

Stained concrete can crack if the slab is exposed to extreme moisture changes, heavy impacts, or settling. Small hairline cracks are mainly cosmetic, but deeper fractures can affect the finish. Inspect the floor regularly, address moisture issues quickly, and hire a pro for timely repairs. Staying on top of maintenance prevents minor flaws from developing into larger, more costly problems.

The longevity of a concrete stain depends on the product you choose. Acid-based options chemically bond with the slab and are essentially permanent. Water-based stains sit on the surface and can be lightened, darkened, or covered with a new color at a later time. Select the stain type that aligns with your long-term design plans and your willingness to reapply the stain in the future.

You can update the color by cleaning the slab, lightly etching it, and applying a new layer of stain. Re-staining bonds to the concrete and resists peeling far better than paint. For a dramatic shift—such as moving from a dark acid stain to a lighter tone—you may need to grind the surface first. A flooring pro can advise on the best approach for your specific floor.

Stained concrete combines longevity with a modern, custom look. The finish resists heavy foot traffic, moisture, and everyday wear, so upkeep is minimal—routine sweeping and an occasional damp mop are usually enough. Because the color is inside the concrete, it won’t peel or flake like paint. Homebuyers also appreciate its sleek aesthetic and low maintenance, which can add a slight boost to your property's resale value.
