"Excellent job!! It was a pleasure working with E. Stanley Asphalt Paving. Joe did the estimate and was my contact and was there with the crew when the job was done. When Joe left during the paving, after having discussed the plan and what was being done, he introduced me to his father who stayed there until the job was done. Before the repaving the driveway was in bad shape and no work had been done on it for over 35 years but it now looks great! This is a top notch multigenerational family business. I highly recommend them."

"About 10 or 11 years ago, AC Paving installed a new asphalt driveway for us. Our original driveway was gravel and dirt. We were extremely please with the work and the price. The driveway has held up beautifully through the years, but it was looking like it needed sealant and we had a damaged area where water has frozen and thawed over and over. Today, AC Paving showed up at our home. They were in the neighborhood doing work and they remembered us from years ago. They immediately got to work and now we have a lovely, good as new drive. I highly recommend this company. They do good work, they clean up after themselves, and the owner is always on the job with his crew, seeing to every detail. We will always continue to call them when we need their services. Dawne Miller, Upper Marlboro"

"The team did a great job laying the asphalt and making the edges very presentable. They also cleaned up after the job was done. They made sure everything was flush with sidewalks. I highly recommend SEJ Paving for your asphalt needs."

"<p>I contacted the contractor by phone.  I explained that I wanted to take advantaged of the Angie's List Big deal that provided a driveway seal coating of up to 2,500 square feet for $338.00.  I also explained that there was additional work that the driveway needed that was above and beyond the "Big Deal'.  S & M sent a representative out and we discussed the particulars of the job.  The 'rep' wrote up an estimate that included the "Big Deal' work as well as the additional I wanted done.  I actually showed the 'rep' the 'Big Deal' that was on the Angie's List website before he wrote-up a contract.  I read the contract before signing and I agreed to the terms.  The contract outlined: the work to be performed; the amount to be paid for the total job ($520.00); an approximate start date; and described how the work would be done.  I gave the contractor 'rep' a check in the amount of $520.00.  As instructed, I made the check payable to the owner of S & W Paving and not to the company.  I wanted the work to be complete while I was on vacation.  That way I was sure no one would have to drive on the driveway while it was still 'wet'.  S & M initially scheduled the job for Saturday, May 3rd, but didn't  do the work until Monday, May 5.  We got back home on May 14th.  </p> <p>My first impression of the completed driveway was one of disappointment.  I had envisioned something else entirely different with a 'double' seal coating.  I called the contractor and someone explained to me what a 'seal coating' actually is.  I feel I received a much smaller measure of value for what was done. Had I known before hand what the result would have been, I would not have had the work done.  I would have chalked this up as one of those 'live and learn' experiences, but for what has happened since.</p> When I tried to purchase this deal on the Angie's List website I was not certain that I had actually been able to do so.  I didn't receive a confirmation that I had done so.  In fact, I wasn't aware of this until I received correspondence from our credit card provider sometime in May.  Fraudulent activity had occurred on our account, and the provider was issuing us new cards with a new account number. The correspondence also included a list of purchases made on the old account.  A charge for Angie's List in the amount of $338.00 was one of the items listed.  In my several conversations with Angie's List employees I have learned that S & M Paving was also paid by Angie's List for the "Big Deal".  So, the contractor was in fact paid twice for the "Big Deal'.  I contacted S & M paving in late May regarding this, and I was told by Peggy that they would be sending me a refund of $338.00. To date, I have received nothing.  <br /> <br /> <p><br /> </p>"

"They showed up promptly for an estimate. We were originally told we could get on the schedule in a week or 2. They had a cancellation, called me, and ended up completing the work within a few days of the estimate. They arrived on time, performed all the work they said they would, all in one day. They charged exactly what they quoted. They hauled away all waste and roped off the driveway. It has now completely cured, and it is fantastic. We have only been driving on it about a week, but we see no signs of a lurking problem. Also, they were $700 less than the estimate we received from a competitor. I would absolutely hire them again. In fact, I plan to hire them to provide seal coats of the driveway every other year."

"The estimator, Dennis accommodated my scheduling requests, and changes in the contract, he was there as well, when the resurfacing started. My driveway needed a specific piece of machinery; so they used their subcontractor, which was excellent too. F&M came back 3 days later, backfilled, mulch, and seeded the bare spots, then a rep came by to check on the finished project. I love the look of my driveway now and would recommend F&M to friends and family!"

"If you’re looking for a paving company, I would just stop reading any more reviews and call RSA. The company was responsive, professional and the work was top notch. The parking lot looked so good afterwards, the business owners called, sent pictures and were thrilled by how much better the area looked. We have a small commercial business in DC that needed the parking lot desperately paved. To call some areas pot holes would have been kind. We had hired another company and their work was dismal. No pride in workmanship whatsoever. I called RSA after reading their reviews. Scheduling an appt was a breeze. I can’t tell you how important this turned out to be because I had been stood up by no less than 3 paving companies at that point. They either cancelled at the last minute or didn’t show up. Rich showed up at the appointed time. He assessed the site, gave me an estimate and started work w/in the next few days. The crew was professional from what I heard and the work was done very well. One other note concerning the integrity of the company and their commitment to customer satisfaction. We agreed on a certain rate and at the last minute I asked him to install two small speed bumps before I left. In my mind, I didn’t assume any incremental expense (assumed it’d just a little bit of extra asphalt). When I received the bill there was an incremental charge. I contacted Rich about this fee and as soon as I mentioned this, he indicted he completely understood the confusion, he should have stated there was an incremental fee and removed the charge. I would 100% work with them again."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Dundalk, MD

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
