"Mike and his son installed carpet and luxury plank vinyl in our basement. We had wonderful experience with going over products. Mike was very helpful explaining what type of carpet/ fiber we need for basement and best available options for our budget. He explained in much detail of how installation will go and what to expect. As told, job was completed before time and place was well cleaned . We did not had to worry about anything. We were very satisfied with the service, product and installation on our floors."

"An outstanding experience from quote to installation. Knowledgeable and helpful salesperson (Ash). Quick scheduling. Very communicative. Installers were the most professional contractors I've worked with. They arrived on time, took care of business in an excellent way, and left. And of course the carpets look and feel incredible, and it was all affordable. Couldn't recommend PriceCo more."

"The carpet looks great and the installers did a good job. There was miscommunication in scheduling the installation. The man who sold us the carpet said that the installation could be done in one day except for the stair runner. However, when the installers arrived, they said that they were not going to do the whole upstairs that day. They only worked about 5 hours and then left for another job. If we had been told that up front we would not have emptied out all of the bedrooms at once."

"Stefan did a great job. The carpet looks almost brand new now. He took us upstairs to see the "before" and "after" cleaning every 20 minutes or so. He moved all the small pieces of furniture and put something down underneath the large pieces. We had used him in the past and would definitely use him again. He works alone, so when you call you always get him."

"Their rep was extremely helpful in selecting a color and figuring out the best width of carpet to minimize seams that might trip one of our little kids. The only problem was that their rep had said the installers would glue the wooden strips to our concrete basement floor. The installers showed up and started hammering them into our concrete basement floor, which is not ideal. Apparently gluing the wooden strips requires doing the glue requires coming one day, and then coming another day to actually put down the carpet. Hopefully the nails in the concrete floor won't cause moisture problems... Otherwise they were great; the result looks great."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Dundalk, MD

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
