"<p>Everything went very well. We were only in town for a short period of time and he was able to schedule the inspection to accommodate our plans.  They showed up on time, stayed as long as I wanted and was satisfied that all of my questions were answered.</p> <p>The follow up with the report was timely .  We asked for an addendum concerning one area  and that was also very timely.</p> <p>I would recommend Billy and his team to anyone needing an inspection of their home or potential home.</p>"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"I contacted Mr Clemons at EBI after learning of the dangerous health risks of living with Radon. He got me in contact with a measuring company (Marty Karl from All Pro home inspections). In IL you cannot have the same person mitigate and test. That would be a conflict of interest. After the initial reading came back 7.7, I re-contacted Mr. Clemons at EBI for a mitigation system. My interaction with Richard was wonderful. He sent over the contracts/warranties/guarantees via email, which I could sign via another website, which I very much appreciated. When installation day came, he came on time, worked tirelessly all day, and showed me how the system worked. As of this morning my post mitigation test shows a 1.5. Overall a pretty good experience. <br />"

"I contacted HouseMaster Home Inspections for radon level testing after my mitigation system installation.  (You cannot use the same company that accomplishes your mitigation to prevent biased testing.)  The service representative took my information and had the technician, Mr. Chad Martens, contact me within 3 hours.  I had originally requested service on Saturday, February 23rd with the service representative, but had to reschedule for Monday, February 25th, at 4 PM when talking with Chad due to availability of his test equipment.  Still, this date was within 1 week from my original phone call.  Chad arrived Monday on time with Mr. Andrey Barshay, owner of HouseMaster Home Inspections.  Andrey explained in detail the process for the test while Chad set up the equipment in the basement.  Andrey left radon hazard and mitigation education materials behind for my information.  The radon test took 48 hours to complete.  Chad returned on Wednesday, February 27th, promptly at 4 PM to pick up the test equipment.  Andrey emailed the completed test report that night at 7:06 PM.  Both individuals were very professional, considerate, and explained the process well.  If you need fast, efficient, and professional testing done, I strongly recommend HouseMaster Home Inspections to get the job done! <br />"

"I phoned Tom Afford to get some advice on mold growing in my son's apartment. He was a wealth of information and he helped me make a plan which in the end did not require any further action on his part. But that just says so much about the top service providers in St Louis and why they are tops. Well done Tom, I will certainly use you in the future. <br />"

"The new LENNOX SLP98V Variable-Capacity Gas Furnace, PureAire PCO 16-29 Air Purification System and icomfort Wi-Fi? Touchscreen Thermostat are installed and working! The new Lennox XC17 Air Conditioner and Sun Source Home Energy System are scheduled to be installed over the course of this week. <br /> Special thanks to the fabulous HVAC crew of C & K Heating & Cooling, Inc located at 1116 Galaxy Dr in Lebanon, IL 62254 (website: http://www.ckheatcool.com/index.html). <br /> They have provided excellent service to, and for, our family over the past 7 1/2 years, and absolutely exceeded our expectations with their HONEST, professional, knowledgeable and highly-skilled HVAC team. The price/cost quote was the best -- not the lowest, but it was the most complete and competitive bid I've seen in a long time.  C&K included all the "possible costs" that may be encountered and included ALL the work options in their quote. I highly recommend them for your heating and cooling needs. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Dupo, IL

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
