"We had a 30 year old radon system with thin-walled pipe that leaked from condensation in cool weather. The original installer was no longer in business and my research led me to St. Louis Radon Testing and Mitigation. In an attempt to save me money, employees Mark and Jason tried re-gluing the original pipes. When the old pipe continued to leak and the levels were unsatisfactory, they installed a new system and made adjustments until the mitigation was successful. Tom, Mark, and Jason were wonderful to deal with. I strongly recommend SLRT&M."

"It went very well. They were very thorough with the inspection, must more then I thought they would be. After the inspection was over, they took time to explain, in detail, everything to us that was wrong and things that looked very good. He even took the time to text a picture of a spider that was found in the house to get the species of it."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"I contacted Mr Clemons at EBI after learning of the dangerous health risks of living with Radon. He got me in contact with a measuring company (Marty Karl from All Pro home inspections). In IL you cannot have the same person mitigate and test. That would be a conflict of interest. After the initial reading came back 7.7, I re-contacted Mr. Clemons at EBI for a mitigation system. My interaction with Richard was wonderful. He sent over the contracts/warranties/guarantees via email, which I could sign via another website, which I very much appreciated. When installation day came, he came on time, worked tirelessly all day, and showed me how the system worked. As of this morning my post mitigation test shows a 1.5. Overall a pretty good experience. <br />"

"Eric quoted me a great price over the phone. He scheduled the inspection on short notice. He arrived at the property early and opened everything up and turned on the water, fans, A/C. He walked me through every aspect of the inspection, explaining what he was looking at or for, what he found, and most of all, how to fix the things that he found. He was very professional and thorough. I highly recommend his services."

"Patrick Walsh did a great job on a pre-inspection for me on a home that I <br /> will be listing in Durham, NC.  He was very thorough and took his time <br /> to investigate all components of the home.  I was very impressed with his scope of knowledge and ability to uncover potential issues.  Not only that, he was very helpful in explaining everything to the homeowners so that they could resolve the issues prior to putting their home on the market.  I would highly recommend Patrick Walsh to any home buyers and sellers In the Triangle Area of NC. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Dupo, IL

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
