Ari worked with me to schedule the work around my availability, and sent in respectful, hardworking teams to complete the work. I especially want to shout out to the concrete patio expert, who took an old blueprint from my architect and worked with me to create the perfect patio design based on my current needs and desired landscaping. I've already had people ask me, " Who poured this? It looks great!" Ari was very professional, responsive and patient with my many questions and concerns. When I texted him on the last day of work with a concern, he came over and laid down on the ground to get a look at what I was talking about, and then took the time to walk me through the decisions we made and how the system will work together as planned to keep my basement dry. Now that I know that they do more than just waterproofing and concrete, I will keep them in mind as future work comes up, because I trust them to do a great job, and finish on time."

"I would recommend Iron & Oak to anyone. We decided to replace an old and falling apart solarium on the back of our house and wanted a three season screen porch on the same footprint. We had a number of contractors out to bid on the project.. some that provided low-cost, cookie cutter aluminum porches, some that were custom builders. The entire process: the initial consultation with Peter, the planning of the project with Jake, and the team that they brought out to build the porch were all A+. "As many of you know--finding a reputable home improvement company can be quite a challenge. We had some major projects to do in our yard and initially reached out to multiple companies requesting bids on building a 40 x 10 foot pergola, repairing a cedar fence and staining another major structure in our yard. Our experience in contacting home improvement companies was so disappointing. Inaccurate bids, no shows, and people showing up that presented themselves as home improvement companies but didn’t know what the heck they were doing. The only company that took the time to provide frequent consultation, accurate estimates, multiple visits to our property and consistent follow-up was Twin City Handyman! The entire staff was attentive to our needs and the projects were well done and completed on time. "Project of demo old deck and build a new to the same plan did not get started until late November. There were periodic weeks during the winter that did not allow for any work. The company owner/manager(Ivan) kept us informed of the status. The quality of workmanship was very good and followed the city inspection. Project that was over 15K came in at the bid price."

"VR did replacement windows and a bathroom remodel (we switched from a kitchen remodel). They did great work and had the lowest bid."

"It went well. I was very impressed with how the windows did during the polar vortex! They did make a difference and they look very nice. I replaced 4 windows and they did inserts to save on having to redo some siding on the outside of the house and then I also did not have to work on restaining the surround wood. I would however I think preferred some new wood as when they put in one of the windows they really scraped up the wood a lot. The screens for the windows are not my favorite and even those working for the company say the same. Apparently the supplier changed the screens. They are just flimsy but otherwise I think they will be fine. Really nice I can open my window from either side if I want. Let's say you want your window open at night but not directly one you, you can open the other side to get some area. When I compared with other estimates for the MUCH lower price of these windows I'm extremely happy! I paid a little extra to have the white part of the window done in a wood grain and that looks really nice in the bedrooms. I have some more older windows to replace and I do feel I would hire this company again."

"I usually do not write reviews, especially if they are not good reviews. However, I was not pleased with the work from Outdoor solutions and think it is important to pass this information on to the next customer. The work we had done was several years ago at our old home. We had this company build a large deck, remove tree stumps and do landscaping of the back yard around an existing pool. They also replaced a window with sliding glass doors. Total project cost was roughly $25,000. The work was fair, and not expert. The family owned company, run by the father was difficult to work with. The quote and first interview with Jim was good enough to hire him, but the work done by him and his family/employees was only fair. It was hard to watch and listen to Jim talk and yell at his employees. He also seemed to pull on our heart strings by telling us about his cancer struggles, saying his life expectancy was short, yet I am not certain this was true. The work itself, as I said, was fair. The smaller details of the deck construction (not visible on most photos) was not high quality. Working with Jim was uncomfortable after we hired him. I often felt we could not ask for what we wanted and that we "owed" him something. This is not how a customer should feel. Overall, the feeling left with us after the project was finished was one of relief that we did not have to deal with him or his company anymore. Often, looking back at experiences, this is what sticks with us. I remember specific issues with the work involving us stopping him from doing shotty electrical work without a permit for that work (I did the electrical work with a permit myself). After showing my spouse what I have written so far, we are mostly in agreement about this review. She added that they got an "F" grade for when they found and removed drain tile from around our pool which lead to rework of that area by a different contractor due to flooding issues. She also stated that we felt manipulated by Jim's personality. In addition I will add that the work itself was rated as a "B-" to "C". Dealing with Jim and his personality was a negative for us and we realize our experience with his personality will not be everyone's experience. If you hire him, I hope this helps you know what you are in for. I am sorry to feel I need to pass this information on to others in the hope of helping someone else out in their search for a good contractor. I also hope that Jim learns from past mistakes and gets better in his customer service and care."
