"My first experience on Angie's List was to find a contractor to repair a leaking roof.  When I purchase my home the roof had been replaced within 2 years of purchasing.  Yet within a year water was leaking into my living room.  When other contractors came out they'd stand in the driveway and look up at the roof, then tell me all I needed were new gutters, which didn't help. All in one actually got up on the roof to investigate determining where my roof was leaking and fix it. With their estimate they provided proof on insurance and state contractor certification.  Before the roof work commenced,  rain was forecast All In One, covered the roof with tarps.  Once the work was completed they cleaned up the yard and driveway of all the old tiles, nails, and other debris.  Shortly after they completed there work, it rained again.  I held my breath but no water came dripping down from the ceiling.  In addition to the roof, since they were going to be up on the roof, I had them replace an old skylight.  No, the skylight wasn't the cause of the leak, I just took advantage of the opportunity to replace it.

"In December of 2012 I had a fire in my kitchen, which left significant damage. I spent 4 months trying to come up with a suitable design for a complete remodel. After paying several designers for plans, and having a series of contractors give unrealistic estimates, I was losing hope. I went on Home Advisor one morning to look for someone to glaze my windows and ended up getting contacted by David Schwager from DD&G. He called within minutes of my request and came out that morning to give an estimate. As we were sitting at my kitchen table, I told him of my frustration with the kitchen. In a matter of minutes he looked around and gave me the best ideas possible, given my space. He then followed up with an estimate that was reasonable for the scope of the project (unlike other contractors who tack on extra money just because I live in a nice neighborhood). Needless to say, I was elated and we went under contract the next day.
David listens intently and works with you to create your dreams. He has incredible vision and can not only give you his ideas but can also take your ideas and make wonderful suggestions. The end result for me was something greater than I ever could have imagined on my own. I also have to admit that there were a few challenging moments (like when I changed my mind on something that I previously approved, or I had expectations that some things would be done faster than they were) however David remained the consummate professional through it all. It was a pleasure doing business with him and I am sure I will be contacting him for future services."

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in East Dubuque, IL

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
