"I had already picked out carpeting and needed an installer to tell me how much I needed to order. I had one installer give me a quote and I questioned the amount of carpet he said to order. That was when I went on Angi and thankfully, Josh came to my rescue. He came to my house, measured the job I wanted to have done and the amount of carpet he said to order was much less than the first recommendation. I needed someone to make area rugs out of rolled carpet and a runner installed on stairs. Josh was extremely helpful and efficient in planning and scheduling my job. The installers were excellent, friendly and polite and went above and beyond to ensure I was very happy with the job. They were very meticulous in laying the area rugs and cleaning up any fibers and debris left behind when they were done. I will definitely be using and recommending Advanced Flooring N.Y., LLC in the future."

"House is 42 year old with 3rd vinyl (sheet) kitchen floor.  Kitchen is small nominal 12X15 floor with small pantry opened with bi-fold doors with stackable apartment size washer/dryer.  Estimate contract was $2,468 for removal of two layers of flooring, patch and prepare present subfloor.  On arrival, contractor suggested removing only 1 layer and leaving original existing layer.  Pointed out existing floor had squeaks and contract called for prep work to include all previous layers (2) with "Patch and repair of present subfloor".  On removal of all previous flooring, contractor found uneven cement residue that (in his judgement} would be difficult to remove and prepare for new vinyl installation.   <br /> While there  was a phone discussion between installer (Scott) and Owner (Michael), it was decided to install new 3/8 inch plywood veneer over existing underlayment at no further cost to me.  This, I thought was very generous as it was not specified to be done in the contract.   <br /> In addition to the kitchen floor, hardwood floors were installed in a large area of living and dining room.  The work exceeded our expectations and will return to Ted's when additional flooring needs are required. <br /> Thank you Michael, Scott and David (the "A team" from Ted's Flooring) for our beautiful floors!"

"It is important to work with Morris Losice. Our first attempt, with another member of the staff, was a bit unpleasant. We placed an order and never heard from him again. When we complained, Morris Losice took over, and everything was handled promptly and professionally. He came to our house at an arranged tome, measured the area, and took time to discuss our concerns. He agreed with the choice of our earlier order and immediately ordered it from the factory. We were asked to remove small items before installation, but the installer removed all the big pieces. His work was meticulous. Both Morris and the installer were friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable."

"It went extremely well. The timely and professional job of installing vinyl planking in my basement. We are very pleased with the results. The team of two removed the old carpet and disposed of it. They moved the furniture in order to install the flooring. They did exactly what the said they would do. This is a family owned and operated business. I would not hesitate to recommend their service to anyone. <br />"

"Anthony & his brother first installed hardwood flooring throughout our downstairs. They did such an excellent job that we had them come back & install hardwood flooring upstairs (including 14 steps) They were on time, clean, and very professional. Anthony, the owner, was wonderful to work with. We would definitely recommend him."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in East Greenbush, NY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
