Mike Foote impressed me immediately with his promptness - he always arrived at the time he said he would, which to me indicates a level of professionalism, trustworthiness, and respect for my time that I appreciate. 

He also had an understanding and appreciation for older homes and construction methods which I felt would be an asset, as my home was built in the early 1900s and was in need of significant structural repair.  I wanted someone who would be able to handle the unforeseen complications that inevitably arise when major repairs must be done on an older home, and someone who would also seek to respect and retain its personality (quirks and all.)

I bid the project out to several contractors using the same project scope and description.  Mike's estimate was at the lower end of the range and of all the contractors, he took the most time to explain the breakdown of costs.  Furthermore, prior to my awarding the project contract to him, Mike went out of the way to do significant legwork and fact finding related to permitting and local regulations.  He had no obligation to do this, but the effort was greatly appreciated and certainly helped sway my decision in his favor.

It became known to us that we would need to hire a structural engineer to remain in compliance with local inspections and regulations.  Mike did a great job as an intermediate contact for the engineer, and also attempted to keep the project cost and scope expansion under control.

Throughout the project the job site was kept as clean and orderly as could be reasonably expected, which was no small feat given the scope of the work and the confined spaces they were operating in.  

Whenever there was an unexpected complication that required additional work or expense, Mike would take the time to lay out the various options (and the pros and cons of each) for how to proceed.  Throughout the entire project, I found his communication skills to be exemplary.  This was very helpful logistically, since I was often away at work while the project was in flight.  It also established and maintained a sense of trust between us.  Mike would keep me posted with regular status updates, would meet with me regularly to discuss the progress and various issues that he thought should be brought to attention, and was always very responsive to questions I had.  He was very easy to get a hold of, which I appreciated tremendously.

And of course, I am extremely happy with how everything wrapped up.  There was one significant increase in project scope and cost related to the stone footing at grade - something that Mike had warned would throw an element of uncertainty into his estimate - but this was handled very fairly and expertly.  the work looks great, and my neighbors have all commented on the professionalism of his crew and the impressive final outcome. 

I would not hesitate to hire him again for any project in my home - whether it be small or large - and would not hesitate to refer him to friends or family.

"It went well! I expected it to take a long time to get it picked up, but I called for the bag to be emptied on Friday and they were here Saturday! I am already filling it up again. (We have a MESS from the storm and need to finish the kitchen before this weekend's company coming in from out of town.) I have already called them to request my bag be emptied on Friday, and they have me on the schedule! I can't believe the customer service is so great! This is not a regular dumpster company. "Just a quick note to tell you how pleased we were with the service.  Was scheduled at our request to be done on a Saturday.  There was an ice and snow storm the night before and there was a lot of ice everywhere in the morning.  Called to say that their truck was stuck and would be late.  Called several more times during the day to keep us updated that the truck was still stuck in a snow bank and they were going to be late.  Finally decided it was getting too late in the day and rescheduled to be done on Sunday since we both work and wanted to be at home while the work was being done.  Was supposed to come first thing Sunday morning but got a call in the morning that the truck was still stuck and they would be here by noon.  Did not arrive until 3:00pm on Sunday. I was worried that we would get sloppy and rushed service or that the job wouldn't be able to be completed in a day which is what we wanted. Cannot say enough about the "dedication to the cause"!!  After arriving at 3:00pm Brian worked tirelessly till he got the job done and he left at 9:30pm.  Not too many people would have done that on a Sunday.  Will DEFINITELY think of you guys again and pass along your name.  The tub looks great.
