He built a stunning mudroom bench with beautiful built in storage units below the bench and coat hooks above the bench. He worked with the space to customize a perfect fit. He also added decorative trim to a wall in my living room to bring out some texture and built a shelf for plants. It looks incredible. "I noticed some fallen shingles on the ground around 2pm and looked at my roof and saw I was missing ridge cap shingles. When I went to the attic to check, there was a hole straight through my roof, and of course tomorrow we are getting major weather with lots of rain and wind. As heights are not for me, I frantically searched internet for repair for that afternoon with very little hope. I sent a request through homeadvisor, and got a can of foam insulation ready to go into the attic to at least fill the holes in case I didn't hear back in time. Low and behold, I get a call from Roger saying he could come by TODAY! I put down the can of foam, closed the attic and couldnâ t believe we would have repair service day of. I figured it would be very expensive but I was wrong. Roger came 15 minutes before sunset, masked-up and very friendly and professional. He set up his ladder and lights and was up on the roof fixing ridge cap very quickly. He ended up finding more issues while up there and he repaired those as well. He was up on the roof in the dark. Could not believe it but he was very comfortable up there. While on the roof we got to talking and we also needed some interior trim around front door fixed, and while he was here he ended up replacing the entire door frame as I had material on hand. Roger may be the best gem I have found on Cape for contractors. Hard working, honest, so fast, and reasonably priced. He could have raked us over the coals because was before a storm but he didnâ t. I will be using Byam Construction for any and all needs and will recommend him to all of my friends and neighbors. I strongly recommend Roger for any carpentry & roofing needs."

"Colonial Restorations was superb.   Our family very much enjoyed working with Brad Green and Tom Green.  

At the outset, they made thorough assessments of our family's barn, identifying several problem areas and offering multiple proposals for how best to address each (including strategies and estimates).  They walked through the different proposals with us, addressing all questions and discussing different options.  This was extremely constructive and important to the process. 

They demonstrated very clear understanding of post-and-beam wood construction.  They displayed great expertise in working with wood (white oak, red oak, hemlock) and with the tools, jacks and cribbing needed for this work.  They worked carefully, always putting in place the necessary jacks and cribbing in advance of each phase of this project.

They were clear about their schedule and were very responsible about communicating with us.  If there were a day that they would not be on site, they let us know ahead of time.  With the exception of a snow storm and an illness, they were on site five days a week from the first week in January till the second week in February, 2016.  

By the completion of this project, Colonial Restorations had made significant and important structural repairs to our barn.  This work was done with care, craft, accuracy, and to code.  (All elements of this project were examined and passed by the building inspector.)  Most important, these repairs respected and worked with the existing structure and materials of the barn.

"Yes the work was done. The two guys that came put in 7 windows and two big bay windows in one day. They did not even taken a break. They cleaned up the small pieces of scrap. Then one week later they came back and put in two new doors with the same professionalism when they did my doors."

"We priced out dumpsters and initially, the dumpsters looked like the way to go but upon reading the fine print, we realized they would have cost more than a bullbag. Each dumpster was about $150-$200 BUT each ONLY included up to 1 ton of material, and the companies would charge me an additional $85/ton over it. The bullbag price was NOT based on weight but rather just filling the bag to the top of the bag. The bullbag not only saved me money, but the people were nice to deal with, but everything they said, they actually did. We have a house on the Cape and we will use them there too in March. We were told up front that there would be an additional $75 fee because of the location, but it is STILL cheaper and easier than a metal dumpster."
