"I had old style yellow oak kitchen cabinets. Instead of tearing them out, I decided to reface with MadCity. They were professional, efficient and did excellent work. My cabinet doors were re-made in a newer more modern style, the hinges are now on the inside and slow close, and the finish is beautiful. I am now proud of my kitchen. I would recommend MadCity based on quality of their product and work. These have a lifetime guarantee and being local, I am confident in their service in the future (though I'm doubting I will have issues). Great experience from sale to installation."

"Bob was professional and did a wonderful repair job. The work was reasonably priced and he did the work in a short amount of time, and did it well! Already am! Took another chair into him."

"This provider really knows what he?s doing. First, he made sure he knew what I needed and came up with building custom shelves that fit into an otherwise wasted space allowing me to free up floor space and organize art and office supplies. He was professional in every way and completed the shelves very quickly. The price was right, he came when he said he would and arrived promptly, workmanship was top-notch, he was easy to work with and listened carefully to what I wanted and applied that knowledge to the job. He even took the time to clean up after the job! How often does that happen? Love, love, love my new shelves!!! <br />"

"Anthony, owner, with Eddy & Kevin arrived at 9 a.m. ready to start. 1st started sanding all stained trim, windows & doors, next primed all trim, doors & windows. All floors were covered with paper & taped down.  They're very neat & clean.  The next day all trim, doors, windows received two coats of paint.  The walls already had 1 coat & they gave all walls a second coat.  All looks great. <br /> <br /> They also installed all new door handles.  Also painted all new floor trim to be installed at a later date."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Eau Claire, MI

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
