"E Stanley paving did a great job. Their representative Joe was friendly and professional and able to answer all our questions. They started the job within a few days of the initial visit. It entailed a lot more work than I thought. They had to bust up three sections of the driveway in order to make it level and get a proper base and had to raise a drain in the driveway. Due to many issues with the county grinder in our front yard that the county has had to excavate our driveway had sunk down 3 inches. They created a smooth surface level to the sidewalk and did a nice job on the edges. We couldn't be more thrilled."

"It turned out beautifully. The demolition of my old driveway happened the same day I hired them. It sat looking like that for a while before they came to put down the new asphalt. The demo was on July 19 and the work was finished on August 2. That is probably normal however, I wish I would have had a clear path to walk between the piles of dirt and rocks. Looking back I think it would have been a good idea to put down some cardboard to walk upon. During the 2 weeks it rained a couple times and there was a lot of mud that my family walked through and made a mess of their shoes and the carpet in my cars and home. Of course that is no reflection on Blacktoppers, just an observation and a word to the wise."

"The estimator, Dennis accommodated my scheduling requests, and changes in the contract, he was there as well, when the resurfacing started. My driveway needed a specific piece of machinery; so they used their subcontractor, which was excellent too. F&M came back 3 days later, backfilled, mulch, and seeded the bare spots, then a rep came by to check on the finished project. I love the look of my driveway now and would recommend F&M to friends and family!"

"Other than a 3 month weather induced gap between establishing the new grade and base, and the actual paving (got too cold to pave), everything went very well. We were able to use the driveway with the base material all winter with no problem. Very professional and skilled team. Fellow on the bobcat was amazing to watch. Grade they established was perfect and finished driveway looks and works great!"

"We have used Samco Paving for multiple projects since 2023 — a crushed concrete driveway, front walkway extension, a reinforced hot tub patio, and most recently paving that same driveway. We are already planning our next project with them. During our first estimate, Sam was not the cheapest or most expensive bid, but he was the most informative — offering ideas that improved our project. The quality he delivers makes it clear that Samco was the right choice. Sam's attention to detail shows in his work. He graded every project with proper swales so water drains correctly — no standing water, ever. His crew is polite, professional, and cleaned up every single day, even when returning the next morning. Highly recommend Samco Paving!"

"I contacted Goode Paving to request a quote on removing the 20+ year old concrete driveway on my elderly parent's home and installing asphalt.  The representative was very pleasant and provided a lot of information over the phone about the company and what they do.  They scheduled an estimate for the following day and the estimator showed up 10 minutes early.  I was concerned about proper water drainage, as they had a few problems with the current driveway, but he was knowledgeable about the proper technique to solve my problem. Their price was reasonable, about in the middle of the bids I received, but the main selling point was their professionalism.  Of the estimates I received (some only verbal, some written on the back of a business card) Goode Paving provided an incredibly professional presentation.  From the folder they provided with a host of information about the paving process, hiring a paving contractor, and caring for my driveway to their typed estimate, uniformed employees, and overall knowledge of the trade, I did not hesitate to put this job in their hands. On the day we scheduled to have the work completed they arrived on time and worked very efficiently, did everything they promised, and cleaned up effectively.  Now, nearly three weeks after the work was completed, the water is flowing as promised and the job looks excellent.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or use them again. <br />"

"It was a pleasure working with this company. The BEST part about Greentrax is their proposal. It is thorough and complete listing EXACTLY what work will be done and any extras the customer has requested. I contacted 6 contractors for this job and each of the other 5 contractors sent me a proposal with about 5 lines. Kelly, the Office Administrative Assistant, send emails confirming everything = so you know what is going on at all times. She will also research questions for you and get back to you with the answer -timely. First, on the initial call, I asked if the old oil tank could be removed and that I have time to insulate under the back porch and paint (I wanted to hand paint the new oil tank) the new oil tank. The tank is 300 pounds and the fellow who came that on the "remove old oil tank and bring new oil tank and place on patio" day showed me the best way to position the tank and how to rotate it so all sides could be painted (he also attached the legs so they could be painted at the same time. I hired a local young man with lots of muscles to actually drop and lift the tank. The "lentils" (the cement pieces that go under the tank to make sure the tank stays LEVEL were also dropped off on that day. I paid for part of the job. Old tank removal /new tank drop off was on Oct 16, 2017. Kelly explained the sludge charge and assured me that all sludge is being handled according to regulations and in a way that protects the environment. PS. One of the other people who came out for an estimate told me that he would "cut the tank open and burn off the remaining oil". Since I am interested in environmental issues, I wanted to MAKE SURE that my job was handled in an environmentally sensitive way. I had a personal problem that tied up my schedule for 6 weeks, then the weather changed so I could not finish the under the porch work timely. When I called in late December 2017, the office was off for a week between Christmas and New Years and I got an early January installation appointment. The installation went smoothly. The job looks great. Greentrax honored the $2.00 / gallon price given to me in August or Sept 2017 - even though the price of oil has risen since then. The new oil filter for the new oil tank was suggested by the first guy that came to remove the old oil tank. It slipped both his mind and my mind that I wanted the new oil filter too. I called ON THE DAY OF THE INSTALLATION, told Kelly about the oversight. I agreed to the price and the new oil filter was installed = NO PROBLEM = the oil filter was picked up on the way to my job. In the picture, an orange covering is over the copper wire. As you can tell I am a very fussy woman. All Greentrax employees understood that I wanted to understand the process and make my own decision about what is best for my situation. At ALL junctures when a problem could have arose, none did. I whole heartedly recommend Greentrax. I also suggest that you paint the oil tank yourself. THE BEST PAINT is with Rust Scat, Polyurethane Enamel OIL BASE Black GLOSS. Purchase this paint (about $50.00/ gallon) at Budeke's Paint, 418 S Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21231 . It is a COMMERICAL level painted used on bridges, has UV protection, and is HIGHLY Rated = brush application is better than roller. = 2 coats recommended and scuff first coat so second coat will adhere to the first coat. Read can instructions for the grade of sand paper to use. USE A RESPIRATOR WHEN USING THIS PAINT OUTDOORS. I did not and got sick for a couple of days; no problem after I put the respirator on (I do not like the way they feel on my face, so I only use a face mask or a respirator when absolutely necessary = it is necessary with this paint). The other hint from Husky Oil company = FILL YOUR OIL TANK AT THE END OF THE HEATING SEASON (APRIL OR MAY) to prevent condensation on the inside of your oil tank. Oil tanks rust from the inside out. Painting with good paint AND fill oil tank each year in April or May will protect your oil tank for years to come. I know that the additional research I did and the paint I used to protect the outside of the tank is going to extend the life of my oil tank for more than the 10 years warranty. The job looks great and I could not be more pleased."

"Re-sealing and repair completed in a very timely and professional manner. The repair was made and allowed to dry for a few hours and then the Mitchell crew returned to finish the sealing. Mitchell paving did an excellent job re-sealing my driveway and they were moderately priced.. I've had this type of job done many times but this is the first time an asphalt contractor has put tape over the landscape ties bordering the driveway. Then unbelievably Shawn went the extra mile and came back and removed the tape. Absolutely the best asphalt contractor in town !"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Edgewood, MD

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
