"I did not know who to call and was a little apprehensive as I did not have anyone I felt I could trust. As a single woman (64), I am always concerned about any sort of service work and if the company is being honest. I found Drain Surgeon on Angie's list with 2 very good reviews and one from a couple of years ago that was not so good, but I decided to try them. They are located close to my home and agreed to call me at my office 15 min. before they would get to my house as I told them that is how long it would take me to get home. We both arrived at almost the exact same time and Tony and Nick were the 2 service techs that came. They were very polite, friendly and very respectful. I was comfortable with them and they did a great job and got the drain cleared with some sort of electric auger within about 15 minutes. They had accidentally broken a small piece of PVC pipe that goes into the wall but they replaced it and told me about it so that was a pleasant surprise as that showed me they were very honest. <br /> I would highly recommend them and will use them for any future plumbing issues I may have. <br />"

"I called at 5pm without hot water; being an hour away from my location, James arrived by 7:30pm, installed the new water heater and took the old heater. James was very efficient and knowledgeable - I will not use anybody but him for these types of issues in the future. Thank you James, for a job VERY well done!"

"The experience was great. The guys from ACE (Travis and Logan) came out a few times to service our water heater to try and save us the expense of installing a new one and to make sure we needed a new one 100%. They came out right away, were always on time, and stayed as long as needed to make sure everything was done properly. They cleaned up after themselves, were extremely professional, and didn't hesitate to tell you the truth and their best opinion on how to have the best plumbing for the best price."

"Joel and his son were on time and performed the work in a timely manner. They cleaned up every evening and made the remodel easy to live in. They communicated with us on every decision and were excellent about making sure they were happy with what they were doing. Joel did a beautiful custom window for us which is the highlight of the bathroom. So happy with the whole process. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or hire again."

"Furnace blower wasn't working. Called Shreiner and they were able to send someone out next day. Service person looked at it, gave me estimate to repair, which was more than I wanted to spend on a 22 yr old furnace for last few weeks of cold season. Serviceman was helpful and was able to get it running, so charged me for visit but no real "repair" was done. It ran for less than 36 hours before dying (he had informed me it may not last). He gave me good info on age of unit, helped with weighing out repair vs. replacement, and was professional and courteous. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Edwardsburg, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
