"Max showed up on time. He worked quickly but job took over 3 hours to figure out problem with several outlets not working and a bad switch and unusual wiring in 1 of the outlets and to replace the faulty switch and a failed circuit breaker on the panel (the cause of the outlets not working) including a trip to HD to buy a new circuit breaker. On his recommendation we had him also replace 2 38 year old switches and the affected 38 year old outlets. He listened carefully to our description of the problem and explained his work and answered all our questions. The total bill was $378 which we felt was a fair price. We will definitely call him for any future electrical work. "

"Highly recommend MJ ELECTRIC. Roque came to our house. We explained to him what we wanted. He gave us the options. Work started when we requested. Mario and Michael came out and were very knowledgeable, professional and respected our home. The kitchen wiring upgrade was completed in 3 days. The County came out and the inspection passed with flying colors. Great company, super employees."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in El Cajon, CA

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
