"If you're reading this and considering working with Chris Lucero and the Lucero Fence Company: STOP! RUN AWAY! Save yourself thousands of dollars and weeks of stress. Everything about our experience with Chris was a disaster, from the materials, to the labor, to his non-existent professionalism. Let's talk about materials first, or rather, the junkyard scraps he tried to pass off as "new wood": -Crossbeams with cracks covering half of the beam -Posts and crossbeams with huge chunks missing -Cedar wood that was already weathered and gray -Toppers (which cost extra!) that didn't even match in shape, texture, or color The crew had no supervision. No attention to detail. Couldn't even set the fence or gate in a straight line. Our gate (another thing we paid extra for!) is shaped like a Z. Not figuratively. Literally. We tried to raise issues immediately: structural concerns, warped lumber, gaps and uneven boards, and sloppy nails sticking out. When we finally met in person, Chris admitted that many parts of the job weren't up to his standards, and that our satisfaction was important to him. Thank god we recorded the whole conversation because he is a LIAR. (CO is a one-party consent state!) During this convo, Chris agreed to replace multiple boards and beams, replace the entire gate, and personally supervise the re-work. But once we followed up with a list of materials to replace, Chris completely flipped. Suddenly, we were being "unreasonable," and he demanded full payment. Apparently, it's fine for him to use trash materials and lie to your face but not okay for you to hold him accountable for what he already agreed to fix. When we hired him, we assumed we'd get the same experience a family member got 2 years ago. That was our mistake. After going back and reading his reviews now, we have realized our nightmare wasn't unique. It's Chris Lucero's pattern. So here's my advice: Do. Not. Hire. Him. We're now stuck with a misaligned gate and unstable fence, all thanks to someone who should not be in business at all. Chris Lucero is not a professional contractor. He's a scammer with a truck and a nail gun."
