"I have been affiliated with the construction business for over 25 years. I took bids to seal cracks and to seal coat my driveway. I tried to find out the products they used and their process. I threw out the lowest bid because they were not going to seal the cracks with anything special. They claimed it would not stay and that the seal coat would take care of the problem. Two contractors never showed up to give me an estimate. Scratch those two. Although Vincent Davis's bid was the highest, I selected him because he was going to use what I felt was the best product out there, and he was going to seal all the cracks (which were numerous along the edges of the driveway). He explained that he was going to burn in the crack sealer which I liked. I felt comfortable that Vincent was not going to dilute his products which some businesses do. Remember the deal with Indiana going after contractors for using sub-standard asphalt on our roads? I also liked the fact that when I informed Vincent that he was the highest bid, he did not offer to cut his price to get the job. That convinced me to use him. Quality products and quality workmanship is what I wanted. Pay now, or pay later. An asphalt driveway is expensive to replace. Vincent also guaranteed his work for 4 years. I have used cheap contractors in the past and it always came back to haunt me. The condition of my driveway before Vincent sealed it was proof of that."
