"It is my pleasure to recommend Anthony. He is knowledgeable, conscientious, highly skilled and professional. Before I could get back to him, he followed up with me by phone and was able to schedule and complete the work within the same day of contacting me. He came to the job with all necessary tools & replacement parts and completed the work within an hour. I will certainly call Anthony for any future electrical projects and plan to recommend him to my friends."

"I served as a State-licensed inspector for the City and County of San Francisco for 23 years, overseeing electrical work on multi-million dollar projects throughout the city. During that time, I had the opportunity to inspect Carlos' work on numerous occasions. His installations were always meticulous--completed per plan and strictly up to code. It was clear then, as it is now, that Carlos takes great pride in his work and genuinely enjoys what he does. That passion is evident in the quality of his craftsmanship. Since retiring from the city, I've taken on a major remodel of my home. When I learned that Carlos had started his own business, I didn't even consider anyone else for the job. He handled all the electrical work for my project, including 100% new wiring and trim out of electrical outlets, and lighting. He upgraded the main service to 200 amps, installed three subpanels, and set up two EV charging stations--I highly recommend Shadow Electric!"

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Emeryville, CA

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
