"I am very, very pleased. Mitch worked with me to keep my cost down and allowed a number of choices for me to do so. The job was done very quickly and the team was a group of very polite and hardworking men who are very good at what they do. Mitch is thorough and when two of the paving stones cracked, he came back and personally reset the new ones. Mitch also provided me advise for how I can improve the path next year. I would not hesitate to hire him again and will recommend his crew to others."

"He did an excellent job. He explained the repairs he was planning to do to our walkway and how it would keep the the damage from happening again. I f there were any problems he told us to give him a call. I had total confidence in his skills and workmanship. Our questions were thoroughly answered. I feel much safer walking down our walkway now. What a pleasure to have a friendly and respectful person to work with and..... it's good to see our walkway back to beautiful."

"Mark came out to look at the area in question. He made some recommendations for size and design to match the style and look of the house. He sketched out the patio dimensions and provided a price. I hired them and they came to perform the work as scheduled."

"Generally very well. I had some initial concerns due to what I perceived as "hemming and hawing" over whether the work would be done in 2 days (would soil under old cement be dry enough to lay down base), but we had dry weather and there was no problem with the work being done in two days. They did everything they promised and office staff called the night before to let us know that we were on the next day's schedule. Work quality seems good and they were pretty tidy."

"The inspector found an issue in my crawlspace that he told me I could easily fix. No charge for the inspection. I would not have thought to do the kind of inspection that he did. Very honest report. You have to respect that kind of integrity."

"Another provider had indicated we would need to dig out the foundation and treat it.  Mr. Simon noted that the issue could probably be fixed by further extending the already long downspout.  The house is on a hill and the water was probably partially draining back toward the house.  This observation may save me thousands of dollars and Mr. Simon did not charge me for his visit. <br />"

"Besides Dr Sweep, we have also asked two other companies to come and inspect our chimney. All three groups gave different comments. One of them suggested rebuilding the chimney for 6 thousand dollars! We talked to some knowledgeable friends and decided to go with Dr Sweep.  <br /> The group that did the tile insulation and crack fixing was great. They were also very professional and courteous. We are happy with the results and have been enjoying the fireplace without any problem this winter. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Erie, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
