"Having used Mad River Plumbing satisfactorily many times over the past 15 years, I was surprised to hear that the founder and long-time owner had sold the business a while back.  But there was no cause for concern: Mad River is still a great firm.  I was also a bit concerned at first when they wanted to charge me $40 for an estimate (which required a "house call" in order to get a sense of the existing set-up), but as soon as I demurred, they volunteered to waive it.   <br /> A courteous and competent young man came out within the hour, gave me a competitive bid, and was able to begin work as soon as I accepted.  He was efficient and professional (and, again, extremely courteous) throughout, worked efficiently, kept me posted as to his progress, and cleaned up after himself.  The only other slight surprise was that he needed immediate payment, as Mad River's office apparently is no longer set up to bill customers after the fact. <br /> A note on price:  when I say that the price was "fair," I mean that it was fair, relative to the two bids I received from other local plumbers.  All three bids seemed a bit high to me, given what the research I'd done on the internet (always a dodgy proposition, I know) had led me to expect.  But since they were all within $50 of one another, the only way to spend less money would have been to do the job myself--something I was not prepared to do.  Since Mad River had a good unit (a middle-of-the-road 50-gallon Rheem) in stock and could get me up and running again within a few hours, I was happy to let them do it. <br />"

"we had a leak outside coming from the water main after we found out the tree roots were to blame WCC Plumbing was contacted they were here pretty quick.  They looked over the damage and went to work instantly.  They were quick, informative, very courteous.  not only did they fix the pipes they cut back a lot of the tree roots so it doesn't happen again.  they had our water fixed and working in a short period of time for a job that should have taken a lot longer."

I asked if he could possibly accommodate us for that day since the homeowner is elderly and it would be a hardship for the toilet to be out of commission. He moved his entire schedule around and drove all the way to Terra Bella to make sure the job was done that day. He did not even add an emergency service fee or a fuel fee. He was so good we had him install our new toilet for a nominal additional charge and we could not be happier. They were very professional, courteous, and pleasant, not to mention quick.
