"Nor-Way Inc completed our kitchen remodel and it looks spectacular! At every pain point Robert and Dennis found a solution that always exceeded our expectations. Our remodel included radiant heat floors, new tile flooring, new cabinets, back splash tile, accent wall tile and installation of all new appliances and quartz counter tops. Our remodel was complete in the time quoted of 6 weeks. We need to remodel our bathrooms next and will not consider using any other contractor. Nor-Way Inc, does what they promise with remarkable quality. You can't go wrong1"

"Recently we hired Ardmore to replace the glass in 2 of our skylights and install a new storm door. Other than rain delays the skylights were installed in less than 2 hours as Ardmore sent 2 crews for the installation. They even came inside to vacuum any debris that might have fallen into the house during the installation. (5 out of 5). The installation of the storm doors was different. It took over 10 hours for 2 men to finish the installation which I felt was excessive and felt they didn't do the installation correctly. The difference between a good company and a better company is how well they fix a problem and to this point they are doing a better job. When I called to complain the scheduler immediately suggested they send out someone to inspect the work and within 3 days someone came out and fixed 2 out of the 3 problems and said someone would be calling me and ordering a replacement part to fix the 3rd problem"

"Great job from Raylor! When we just moved in to my place we didn’t like our walls, our kitchen cabinets and many other details we wanted to change. Very happy with the finishing, time, and very competitive price. I would definitely hire him and his team again"

Small jobs welcome

"After a great experience with Rick rebuilding our back staircase--and seeing other glowing reviews of his work--we chose him for our bathroom remodel. We picked out all of our own fixtures (sink, toilet, towel hooks, mirror, lights, tiles, paint, grout, etc.) and sent Rick copies of the receipts so he knew exactly what we were getting. This helped him provide an accurate estimate and plan accordingly. Since this is our only bathroom, having access restored quickly was a top priority. While the project took some time due to planning, subcontracting the electrician, installing a brand-new window, reglazing the existing tub, and working around the holidays, Rick made sure disruptions were minimal. The toilet was only unavailable for 24 hours and the shower for just three days total--impressive given the scope of the work! The craftsmanship was excellent, and everyone involved in the project was professional, skilled, and trustworthy. "

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Evanston, IL

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
