"Rigo helped us out when we got in over our heads during a project in our back yard. We unearthed an old patio which had sunken down unevenly and was directing water toward the foundation of the house. Rigo worked with us to come up with a beautiful solution. Not only did he fix our drainage issues but he also did a wonderful job pouring a new patio. We had many concerns but Rigo was calm and helpful and never seemed frustrated with how difficult we were being. He was also very reasonably priced. We're 100% satisfied with his work and recommend him for concrete projects... Even small ones which you thought you could take care of yourself."

Customers say: True professional

"The project went great. Shortly after my project submission on Angi, Mr. Goldy contacted me to arrange time to see my porch and driveway and provide a cost quote. His price was competitive or better than other quotes I received. He and his team did an excellent job on the sidewalk, porch and steps with Flagstone and lowering the step down height of the porch step., and repairing a hole in my concrete driveway. I would definitely recommend Mr. Goldy and will use his company to service any future projects."

"Kelly helped refine the scope of our project. Made sure we were happy with the pavers and suggested a nature stone finisher that enhanced the entire look of the patio all while staying with our budget. Even before the patio was completed our neighbors commented on how well the project was coming together."

"A1 did great work on replacement of both our walk and driveway, using a combination of pavers and concrete. My wife and I are very pleased with the outcome. Patrick and his team gave us a highly professional job at a reasonable price. His advice, communication and oversight throughout the process was invaluable. We highly recommend his services. "I had previously talked to 3 contractors about installing a patio, and got quotes from two of them. By the time my HOA finally approved the work, the contractor I chose was no longer able to fit me in a reasonable schedule. I called Julio out to do my yard work, and explained my situation. We had a detailed and productive conversation about what I needed to achieve, which was fix the POOR drainage in my yard. We discussed a rainbow of options, their prices and consequences. I found it refreshing to NOT have a contractor try to force their solution on me. In the end, we decided on a patio that was part of an overall strategy to address the back yard swampland, meaning it required the rerouting of sprinklers, sump pump drainage, and gutters... all for about the same cost as the smaller patio I had previously agreed to. Not only is the patio BEAUTIFUL, but the yard is successfully draining and drying. Julio's communication at every step of the process was punctual and professional, including follow-ups after the job was done. There have been multiple headaches with buying this house, so I am DELIGHTED to have found someone I can trust with the quality of their product and their concern with their customer. I look forward to working with him again."

"On my shared driveway I noticed the concrete culvert was beginning to erode and shift. The crew came when scheduled to repair the culvert. The drainage area needed to be reshaped and have stone added to help with erosion issues. A cement footing was created to help hold up the concrete tubes and than concrete was packed in around the tubes help hold them in place. The job took several days to complete. I am very satisfied with the overall work. There was a lot of work put in to make the finished job look good and it does look good. I am giving a B for quality because the trucks they parked on my yard left large ruts in my yard. I watched the workers kick leaves over the ruts to hide them. When I complained they sent some one back to fix the ruts. That some one came back and with his foot kicked the top of ruts off, jumped back in the truck and left. I still have ruts that I will fix with my shovel and rake in spring. Such a shame. I will defiantly use them again in the future."

"Everything went smoothly. The communication was great. They arrived when they said they would. They removed 65 square feet of concrete from my patio and hauled it away. The jackhammer only took about 10 minutes and was not as loud as I had expected. They were only on my patio for about 45 minutes. They did not waste any time. Originally, I had gotten a bid from them to only remove 10 square feet. The day before, we changed our minds. D & A Concrete was able to provide an updated bid over the phone. They accommodated the increased scope with no schedule changes. Now, I have more space to plant a tree and native flowers."

"We could not be happier with our results from Transblue! From start to finish, the team was prompt, courteous, super knowledgeable and helpful. They transformed our unappealing mulch-covered backyard into a beautiful pet-friendly and enjoyable location for our whole family. As you can see from the pictures, they expertly modified the patio to a smaller size (not an easy job since itâ s stamped concrete), removed the mulch (that has been tracking into our townhouse), and replaced it with beautiful artificial grass with gravel underneath for drainage. As you can see from the before after, it is a vast improvement, and the overall project was quoted significantly lower than competitors we spoke to in the area. All in all, we would definitely recommend Transblue and a huge thanks to Hernan and Scott for getting this done so fast!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Fairfax, VA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
